Amal and George Clooney  have bought in New York — sources exclusively tell Page Six — at luxury apartment building One Hundred East Fifty Third Street.

The skyscraper from developer Aby Rosen and starchitect Norman Foster’s Foster + Partners is expected to be completed next year.

A source told to Page Six :

“The high-profile couple did not purchase the penthouse, but instead opted for a high-floor residence in the upcoming building.” The two-floor penthouse in the condo building, with 94 units, is going for $65 million.

Among active listings at the building, the next highest-floor apartment for sale is a 49th floor, 3,385-square-foot, full-floor apartment for $14.75 million — which includes three bedrooms and 3 ¹/₂ bathrooms, direct elevator access, “a grand entry gallery” and a “spacious great room with dramatic northern, western and eastern exposures” with “floor-to-ceiling windows and nearly 11-foot ceilings.” That unit also includes a “private corner master bedroom suite with southern and eastern exposures . . . with a grand dressing room and a tranquil five-fixture en suite bathroom with sweeping city views.”

Apartments at the building start at $2.6 million.

A source said to PageSix the couple opted for the building because of its design and amenities, and because it is close to the United Nations for Amal, a renowned human-rights lawyer, who is also teaching at Columbia Law School.

  1. Although no information on the location of the Clooney Foundation appears available, I am guessing that it might be New York and that is the reason for the purchase of the apartment. Other than that, I don’t understand why two people need four lavish homes.

  2. Other than being close to the UN there is nothing desirable about that location as it’s surrounded by office buildings. Despite its starchitect pedigree the building is yet another towering eyesore that has come to violate NYC’s skyline in the last several years.

  3. Sorry, this comment has nothing to do with this building.

    1. I don’t know, but I am very glad that this tremendous courageous girl has been rewarded with the Havel price. The pain in this girls eyes expressed in the photo’s publiced here was heartbraking. I cannot begin to imagine what ordeal she ( and all the other women) has been through. I hope and pray that one day a smile will return on her beautifull face and some happiness will be filling her hart. May justice prevail, so she can find some peace again.

  4. Even if she did stretch the limits with the ambassador for some affirmative action, it was due to the horrors the group Amal represents face, why should she stay silent and condescending???

Multiple attorneys/barristers/law professors have commented on this case and the most diplomatic way of characterizing it is to say that it is ill conceived; this case can’t be tried due to factual realities that I will not take the time to list here. The fact that something unfortunate happened at the meeting with the Iraqi Ambassador to the UN is a separate matter.
