Amal and George Clooney at the Royal wedding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 19.05.2018

Amal Clooney radiated glamour at the Royal wedding in a stunning bright canary yellow dress by designer Stella McCartney.

Amal Clooney arrived for the ceremony at Windsor Castle on the arm of actor husband George.

Her summery frock featured elegant capped sleeves, a cinched-in waist with a flowing ribbon detail at the back and a modest neckline.

She teamed her gown with a wide-brimmed matching yellow hat by Stephen Jones and gold stiletto heels by Gianvito Rossi.

Fans praised her as “the best dressed at the Royal Wedding”.

Amal and George seated in the Quire with the Royal Family during the ceremony at 12pm.

In the evening , Amal and George Clooney were kept waiting for ten minutes outside Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding party.

Inquisitive police officers were seen chatting with the actor and Amal as they sat in the back of an Audi S5 outside Frogmore House, Windsor.

Amal and George Clooney are there because they are friends with Harry and Markle. Amal and Markle partiularly have gotten close lately, according to People. “Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while,” a source said. They were allegedly “introduced by a mutual friend and have formed a friendship since Meghan moved to the U.K.,” she otulet wrote. The source said that Markle and Amal share “many interests.”

  1. She looked stunning – the color was so pretty. I think Amal out-shined Victoria Beckham in my opinion. Amal and Lady Kitty Spencer were the knockouts after Meghan.

I was so taken back my Doria (brides mom) she sincelerly looked so touched at the wedding.

Natalie- I can’t tell – did Amal follow the usual British protocol and wear pantyhose?
Any idea what she wore for the reception- everyone else did a wardrobe change.

    1. Totally agree! Amal looked fantastic and Kitty Spencer was my second choice as best dressed guest at the wedding. What surprised me is that Amal’s dress is by Stella McCartney who more often than not is a flop as a clothing designer. (imo). But I absolutely adore this dress, the hat, and the shoes (although they looks tricky for walking….)

    2. Doria Ragland, Megan’s mother, was gorgeous, so simple, so effortless elegant, perfect example of being a lady without being covered my a millionaire wardrobe, jewels and makeup and a famous lastname. No doubt she was the favorite of most people. She was the star and she must be so proud of her daughter with all good reasons.

    3. Seeing images of Amal with her daughter. What values will she teach her? Humility or grace? What values will she impart onto her daughter? Success, accomplishments but also she may sadly inherit her thirstiness.

      1. Yes, the conspicuous consumption certainly appears insatiable at the moment. Very unrelatable human at the moment. I wish it wasn’t so, as like others, I also sought to admire her for her accomplishments, classiness and humility; none of which appear to be her strong points as it has transpired, sadly.

      2. Generally speaking, parents consciously and unconsciously impart their values into their children. Amal will share the values of education, and sadly along with vanity and lack of humility. What impression will her daughter have seeing her mother prance like a pony for a royal wedding procession? It’s memorialized in video, not dissimilar to Kim Kardashian’s infamous video. What’s the difference between them? One has a better academic education? Both love celebrity, vanity and being center of attention. Nice values to impart …

  2. The dress is pretty. However, as many commentators said today- you really have to exercise caution and not try so hard to outdo the bride. NOW I AGREE WITH PREVIOUS POSTERS THAT SHE Screams for attention- she overdid it. She seems so snobby walking in honestly.

    1. The dress is a great color. But as Tom and Lorenzo, the famous celebrity critiques said, the waistline and strange pleats are not flattering….but she has no hips so baggy in that area still makes her look skinny. The good shoes…..hmmmm. Did you notice the way she is bopping around with her hips swaying right to left as if she thinks she’s walking the the runways – no one is walking that way!! And while most people are smiling, her facial expressions are so obviously overdone for the cameras. Her look is much more “lol at me” and “get out of the way of the cameras so they can get a good shot of me”. SHE IS ALL ABOUT THE CAMERAS NON-STOP, unlike any other celebrity.

      1. “Tom and Lorenzo are not worth here ….”
humm … that response sounds a bit arrogant and discriminatory.
Why are they not worth to be mentioned “here” ?? maybe I missed the memo about who can be here and who cannot.

    2. I totally agree. She looked fantastic! But so incredibly tacky to try to outdo the bride…and train with the dress and a veil. Look at me, look at me…is what it screamed. Inappropriate venue for that. Snobby is a good word in how I felt watching her walk.

  3. Amal looked amazing! What on earth is the connection between the Clooneys and the newlyweds? Surely it has to be more than sharing the same hairdresser?

I particularly enjoyed watching the Clooneys attend a Christian church, be witness to a Christian marriage ceremony and they even sang the words of praise to the Lord Jesus in beautiful Christian hymns.

    1. I am wondering the same thing, Maria! I am really curious what this connection is between M&H en G&A. They have to be pretty close, otherwise they would not have been seated in the same area as the royal family. It maybe has something to do with charity or the Clooney foundation?

      1. Don’t forget politics. I am sure Meghan and harry focused to invite the ones who could “collaborate” with them on something they do. I would also not be surprised that some sort of deal was made to score that seat. The Beckam did not get the same seating… so why would Amal and George do?

        Like

    2. Maria- I wondered that (what they shared in common) too. I’m thinking it was the humanitarian connection.

    3. George was also saying OUR FATHER. Along with the Coptic Priest ( he grew up Catholic ) and they were both reading and singing along – I couldn’t tell if those were Hyms or country songs I’ll have to refer to our UK sisters here!

      1. The connection is via Baria , their recent (last year) charity connection which we will be hearing more of soon – and Amal and Meghan connection marrying into high profile men. I want to be very clear here GEORGE CLOONEY was not invited to this wedding he was AMAL’s plus one! Get it Amoula!

Stay tuned for more amal and Meghan connection ladies .

      2. Amal and George and many others scored the best seats well – lets be real — poor Meghan didn’t have “FAMILY” to fill her side of the church now did she 😦

      3. Thanks Soos. I figured it must be a new emerging contact that we were yet to hear about. Amal and Baria were very clever indeed to have reached out to Meghan so early on upon her arrival in London. Good move for their upcoming humanitarian work.

I thought it was wonderful watching two hard core atheists sing praise about Jesus. Ironic. Yet wonderful.

        Like

      4. Maria, yes George is now hard core atheist. Amal and her family are druze muslim (definitely not Christians), but he is an actor and she, she can learn/pretend anything, including a Christian religious hymn.
For them, this was not a religious marriage ceremony, but a Royalty Ceremony, so the “act” and “cameras” were on. The price to pay was singing along religious stuff (that obviously they don’t believe on) and that’s a tiny sacrifice, comparing to the prize of being under the cameras with the Queen and future Kings of the whole Commonwealth :- ))))

      5. I liked Amal’s outfit here, too, but the best dressed was Doria, by far. Also, it’s easy to tell that Amal and George were Meghan’s invites, as they were sitting on her side of the church. Anyway, I’m not impressed with wealth, pomp, and circumstance, nor do I give a care about any royal pedigree (or not). I’m impressed by actions. We’ll see what actions any of these humanitarians are capable of, in the future. They’ve done some good work in the past. However, there are many other people doing more for the environment and for humanity who don’t care about image. And, there are even more people who don’t want charity at all, but who would like a chance at life and to do great things themselves, but who don’t get that chance.

    4. There is no real connection, except “investment”, ie, Clooney invested millions in the new mansion in UK. Lots of money can buy “connections” and getting the best seat anywhere.
There are tons of British humanitarians that do more work than these couple and you don’t see them invited, do you ?

  4. Does she work anymore? She seems to have more ‘social engagements’ than work engagements. In her line of work, working those high profile cases would require endless, stressful work. Social commitments are understandable, but this is at a next level. Or maybe her ‘work assignments’ her mere publicity stunts. I’d be worried for her clients.

What about Amal, to you personally, makes you want to continue? Amal and Baria make sure she has more than enough attention brought to Amal. You mentioned you have children and must be very busy. I’m asking a genuinely honest question, why do you admire and defend Amal?

        Thank you for answering.

      4. Audrey Hepburn is a century style Icon not Amal; despite the fact I like her because she seems to be a kind person.
Amal wears nice stuff; that s true; but she often wears what she s being given and she puts herself in a position of being used as an advertisment tool. She has no specific style of her. Sometimes; we love to see that by curiosity; but all she wears is not always classy nor beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

      5. Audrey Hepburn is a style icon from the past century. The same for Jacqueline Kennedy or Caroline Bassett. All these style icons still have a big influence currently. Amal knows how to wear for each occasion and is a renowned human rights. Why she couldn’t be a fashion icon ?

      6. Nati thank you for posting my comment and responding. Wow, ‘style icon of the century’ and more ‘class’? I need a moment to let those thoughts sink in. I couldn’t disagree with you any more than humanly possible but I respect that this is your blog. I was drawn to her work and met her a few times in NYC as she share mutual friends. My curiosity brought me to your blog. I’ve lost touch with her circle as she’s a celebrity now but I’m amazed at how she’s so superficial, media-hesterical but she was always like that in NYC, now she just has a bigger bank account. Wow.

      8. @Helga I knew her casually. I worked at a large law firm and we had a few friends in common. She was sweet. She always was late. In a weird way, one of my friends was a bit in awe of her. She kept saying how guys were just drawn to her. She wasn’t as thin as she is now, she was slender-ish for her frame. I never understood her draw, she dressed a bit … tacky for my taste and I didn’t see what others saw. I thought she was very hard working, extremely ambitious and she was very into the scene – to be seen etc- which wasn’t appealing to me. She liked to share how she went to the Soho House and saw ABC and how ABC hit on her etc. a bit of a humblebrag. But I always respected her work ethic.

  7. Amal looked pretty – her makeup was almost going to the too bold (thanks but no thanks Charlotte) She looked stunning. The shoes looked so painful LOL.

MY ISSUE IS SHE STOOD OUT WAY TOO MUCH which is a wedding faux pas! even Oprah had a dress remade worried about it being too white close to the bride. I am really disappointed in how Amal wasSTRUTTING her way into the church. It was so tacky. She’s beautiful and smart etc. but it does negate the fact that every WOMAN knows- the code is– you DONT go out of your way to out do the bride sheesh! Amal is a Brit she knows the protocol that the Queen purposely wears bright colors to such events to purposely stand out. Amal is not even a relative to take it to another level.

Stealing Cannes spotlight or a movie premiere is one thing but wearing this kind of crossed that line.

Lastly- I admire her work and yes she should have a fashion passion – but she really took it to another level hosting the Met Gala – and then questioning why people give her attention and she wants to be taken seriously for her work only. I don’t know- Amal has changed.

    1. Totally agree. One does not wear an outfit to a wedding which is talked about as much as the bride. I just eyerolled at that strut. What Is That? Why does she do that?

      Liked by 3 people

    2. Hi Tamara, I believe there is an explanation and is not Amal’s fault. Lets see, Amal is not really a “Brit”. She was educated in Britain and got citizenship, and yes, thanks to Clooney has access to Royalty, famous Brits and anythings he wants really. Yes, money can buy anything nowadays, including dancing with Royalty.
However she was born in Lebanon, all her family are from there and she grew up into that culture naturally. No matter how she tries to look and how she behaves, she is 100% Lebanese by heart.
As a matter of fact, real Brits, don’t try so hard to be in the news/press and outshining their Royal Family. Real Brits respect, support and love the Real Family. There is a whole lot of hard history and culture behind it, that Amal doesn’t have/feel (even though she did very well in a Brit school but is not hard for her to study UK history without feeling it through your own family right ?).
Amal respect and loves herself and her own family/culture more than anything, very Lebanese way.
It is a very different culture than the British, and you can see that with every step of her “Clooney” new famous way.

    3. Amal has NOT changed. She’s become more of the person she always has been – Attention and Camera thirsty. Remember she studied entertainment law in the past – No coincidence!! Can’t compare Amal to legendary style icons like Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn. These women were very fashionable but had true class. You would never look at Jackie or Audrey, even with all their money, fame and exquisite sense of style, and think of them as attention-hungry. Their graceful mannerisms and facial expressions never indicated such. But with Amal, her attention-starved behavior overshadows the beautiful clothes. There’s a reason why An increasing number of commentators on this blog are dissapointed. Some of us were hoping Amal would be a true role model combining intelligence, style, fashion, accomplishment, grace and class but Amal is too caught up in her celebrityhood to be a role model for some of us.

    4. Tamara- We saw so few photos of everyone who attended that we do not really know how everyone dressed, just those that a photographer took photos of. In the videos it appears that the pavement was uneven and everyone just bopped along. Plus it was a joyous occasion and I think people walk differently in different environments.

  8. Money and influence can buy anything, including a ticket to a royal wedding. Amal is getting slammed once again for the camera posing and the runway strut – personally the restrained style of the Duchess of Cambridge – with a repeat outfit and all – quietly murmurs “I have reached the pinnacle and remain true to myself” Amal keeps screaming “I’ve arrived! Look at me!” She’d probably outshine her best friend at her wedding without giving it a second thought.

  9. In my opinion ,comparing Amal to the bride in the sense of a competition is nonsense. Amal looked amazing and appropriate for a royal wedding,( this was not some back yard event). Why should she be criticised for looking stunningly beautiful? I am not a fan of some of her outfits, but this is just beautifully elegant and radiant and yes ,she does look like a model. Nothing wrong with making the best of one’s appearance for a special occasion or on any other day of the week. It hurts no one and is pleasing to the eye.
Agree, this wedding was wonderful in it’s diversity and break of tradition. This is a whole new fresh royal house and the queen is still on the throne. Nice!

  10. Amal looked stunning and so much better than her Met red carpet look. Def best dressed. I disagree with guests needing to not outshine the bride. Nothing can outshine a bride on her wedding day! Especially one as beautiful as Meghan.

Have to say I was confused about their position with all the close friends and family. Never ever heard that they knew each other. I can’t see how you could describe the situation as anything but social climbing! No chance Amal and Meghan would have been in the same circles prior to their relationships. I guess that is Hollywood for you.

  11. I know this comment won’t be popular – but it wasn’t hard to outshine Meghan’s dress. It was very underwhelming.

    1. Meghan’s dress was so elegant and simple. Total class. She doesn’t need to outshine anyone else with bright colors or extravagance, spice makeup, hair tossing or a troll walk. She is a natural beauty even with no makeup and no Photoshop. Her mum too.
Elegance follows the mark: the less, the better.
Amal is the opposite, she always try to be a cover magazine, trying to be a “fashion icon”. Probably she did learn from her mum but eventually it will backfire her. It is happening to him already.

  12. AC looked wonderful and perfect from head to toe, glamorous but not too much skin. My favorite look from all wedding guests although I personally dislike yellow.
But she would be more elegant if she stopped flirting with the cams. I suppose she dislikes if somebody comes between her and the lenses.
Without her attitude “look how beautiful or fashionabe I am” she would increase her glamour. .
But this may be a matter of taste.
“Be beautiful but ignore it” has a nowadays rare even oldfashioned charme which I personally adore.

By the way, of course we only get a tiny small impression of a person from few pics, the truth may be different.

Thank you Nati for all your great work, your pic collection from the wedding is heart warming.

  15. Nobody should wear a dress train on a wedding, knowing that the bride will have a bigger one.. so Amal should had cut of that tail, and the “LOOK AT ME ” attitude. It really is starting to look childish. Anyone could get attention dressed on mustard color, but not the right type of attention. Her self-consciousness to the cameras, and clumsy cat-walking is becoming too obvious. Soon she will be the one nobody wants at their special event because she seems to look proud of how she can outshine the host. ….So because of that, for me, her choice of color for her dress (plus attitude) was a fail.

    1. Dear Nadia,

You have been following Amal for quite some time. I have noticed there has been a significant departure from your previous high regard for her – I am curious – what has changed for you?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Indeed, i have been here a while :). I always had two reasons to come here: 1) for the fashion. 2) to get to “know” her, to see how she would unfold, to find out if she had a deeper essence. In general, i like to give others the benefit of the doubt, everyone deserves that, and until they prove me wrong, i will see what is available to be seen. But i have been watching more videos of her now, and not just the still pictures, and it has shown me a different pattern on Amal. After all this time, i would had thought that she had grown comfortable on her status and, what i before saw as newbie anxiety, would had resigned to unveil her true essence and confidence. But as i watched the Met Gala video, the Anna Wintour party video and the Royal wedding ones, i am amazed that i am watching someone of her caliber, who has been labeled to be classy and utterly confident, (like the utterly confidence Meghan Markle showed when she chose a very minimalist wedding dress) The body language that Amal shows off on her videos is of someone who is beyond narcissistic, and that is very deceitful. Yes, i could just focus on the fashion aspect of her (and that is what i will do moving forward) but as women, we get deeply touched by the real goddess essence that was gifted to us and which comes from our depths, one that inspires and uplifts our womanly spirits. At the end of the day, we all crave and need inspiration, and we are at our best when we are capable to inspire others. The fashion part is only over the skin deep. So, no mater how shallow i can pretend to be, what really touches me deep in my core is that special human substance such as kindness and compassion. I guess that is the difference between gazing at a human “model” parading an outfit, and a plastic mannequin.

I don’t feel Amal was posing for the cameras – I got the impression she as looking at the great crowds and taking it all in. They both looked elegant and classy. I also loved Meghan’s wedding gown- it was perfect for her. Chic and timeless and she let the amazing accessories show rather than have to combat for attention with a fussy gown. Meghan’s style is effortless chic and it was no different on her wedding day. Her best accessory is also Amal’s best accessory – the look of love and happiness. It goes with everything! xoxoxo

I didn’t like the length and I didn’t like the triangle hanging at the back. I also found that she walked badly in her shoes. I have a beautiful pink dress in my closet which is Italian vintage rafia lace and that I purchased once in LA. It would have made me one of the best dressed at the ceremony but guess what? I was not invited. Too bad..
PS: Amal if ever you check this blog, George’s pants are always too long and look like an accordeon at the bottom => ugly.

  19. Nati, you do a GREAT job with your blog and I appreciate you including so many viewpoints.
I am perplexed by all the Amal criticism. The woman, like all women, is multi-sided. She is educated, well-spoken, uses her brains, committed to humanitarian work, and through her family, schooling, work and brains, has always traveled in high circles. From what her mother has said, she has also always loved clothes and parties. Good for her! She is stunningly beautiful and takes a great picture. She smiles easily. Good for her!
What I don’t see is a woman who hogs the limelight. She disappears for months at a time, is not giving interviews constantly to People magazine, or most other outlets. Usually, if she does an interview, it is about her work. The Vogue piece was because she is friends with Anna Wintour, was co-chairing the Met Ball and was returning a favor. She has not flaunted her children. And as a couple, while they have announced various philanthropic ventures, we are not bombarded with press releases as to how well those ventures are going.
Does she seem to enjoy the attention when at public events? I think so. Would it be better if she scowled? Ahh, then the criticism would be even worse.
So far as her wedding attire goes, I thought she looked stunning. I loved the hat, makeup, happy visage and top part of the dress. I think it was a bit too long and the “train” or ribbon at the back superfluous. But she and Kitty Spencer were my favorites.
Meghan looked beautiful and her veil and tiara were the standout. The dress material was a bit too heavy for such a petite woman, didn’t fit properly up top, and wrinkled as a result of the fabric too easily. But she was glowing, carried herself with grace and the star of the show. Her mother was equally beautiful. Her custom Oscar de la Renta was flawless. I only wished the Royal family had sat an equerry or some member of their family next to her. It was a bit too apparent she was alone.
Charles, though hardly my favorite, was wonderful that day and his lending his arm to Doria outside the chapel, a lovely and spontaneous gesture.
Nati, you are a gem!!!!!! Keep up the good work! It is greatly appreciated.

It’s all on the Totally TALA instagram – these two sisters seem live in very different worlds. Different approach to life. 1. Interesting observation :- ) Tala travels frequently to UK, Como etc even though she lives far away. I believe Amal is very frequently surrounded by her own large family, especially her mother
The Alamuddins seems to be very close, together whenever she is in UK or Como or NYC.
The pictures that we see are selected (on purpose) although sometimes we can see her mother and brothers behind (supporting and helping her) etc because the intention is to have Amal as the “star” (and with George to show they are together in love) . That’s my observation. Excellent PR protocol. :- ))
