This might be a bit off topic – I have always wondered why Amal never wears a watch to her daily work engagements – seems like a small thing but it has caught my curiosity – as wearing a watch is something most people do in business. Being such a label queen she could have so many gorgeous luxury watches – including the brand that George is a spokesperson for. Also I am trying to avoid thinking about her open toed, thick lace up boots which I find quite gimmicky – not to mention the red lace lingerie, bordello style wonder woman outfit she wore to a chic get together for NY sophisticates. Sometimes too much……can give you heartburn

    1. G is good at adverting stuff. About her, she doesn’t seem to be ever alone, there is always a bodyguard with her, so probably he will tell her the time and everything else she needs.
      Did you see the video of the last party when the bodyguard tries to tell her twice where to go to get in the vehicle and she was still confused ? :- )
      I don’t feel the heartburn, on the contrary, is pretty amusing …LOL

    2. No one I know wears a watch anymore because their smartphone is glued to their hand or ear so they always know what time it is. By no one I mean everyone I know professionally and casually.

    3. I wonder what she would look like with short(er) hair. A shoulder length would be more modern and current. Also she should keep it curly. In the Ibiza pics, she looked so much more natural with her real curls. You can see the kink at her roots as she’s fighting her natural look for the blow out which really could use a freshen up trim.

      1. Amal has naturally curly hair and up until before she met George I know she actually gets the brazislian keratin treatment – she was using a Lebanese hairstylist in London that also saw her in Beirut’s ( pre George )

      2. Apparently she prefers the straight hair but it’s so tired. The curly hair was so fresh and youthful. The dry stringy ends just does not look chic. Every time I see her preening, I just think – just trim 3 inches off and it’ll look so much better. Or stop using the keratin treatment and go natural. Nothing wrong with keeping what nature gave you!

  3. After seeing Amal in her red lace corset outfit last night, I’ve decided I’ve lost interest in following her. I don’t understand her thirst for being the center of attention ALWAYS. That red corset top with lace train spoke volumes to me about Amal. Sadly, I don’t think she really knows what she wants to be in this complicated world. I was saddened to see in one photo of Amal doing her Pap walk up the sidewalk to Anna Wintour’s home, in that outrageous red corset, was her mother walking BEHIND her about 25 ft. Life is TOO short to be so conceited that your own mother can’t walk beside you because of what? Ruining the picture? Shameful. I believe she’s smart and a good mother, but something is just off with her, IMO. I’ve lost interest with her style, because I believe that, at this point, she’s just a clothes hanger for every top designer and has let the “good life” overtake her. Thank you for this blog. I enjoyed it very much, but I won’t be partaking in the discussions on Amal any longer. Peace.

    1. Hello Twinnie, hope you are still on the blog to see my reply. The calculated conceited public life of the former Amal Alamuddin reveals a calculating and conceited person. THIS EMPRESS HAS NO CLOTHES! The overdressing is extreme and competitive – she co hosts a party for a so-called friend and is calculating enough to know that this red bordello outfit, will ensure the spotlight never rests on the guest of honour. Imagine having her as a friend? No wonder she appears to be surrounded by people on the payroll all making money off of her. Charlotte Tilbury sells her makeup, Anna Wintour sells a few more magazines, the designers peddle their products and promote on their social media and on and on the mutual exploitation goes. Even Nadia Murad – a true heroine becomes a prop in Amal’s story. If VOGUE really wanted to make a statement by putting a woman of substance on their cover – I would have preferred see Nadia – but of course Nadia doesn’t sell their products. I am intrigued to see how this George and Amal fairytale evolves – but I don’t buy into the hype.

      1. So glad to see that some people on this blog are speaking up and stating the truth about Amal. This is a fashion blog and how someone dresses makes a huge statement about who they are as a person and what their intentions are. It seems like there are several, several regular people on this blog who, no matter how outrageous Amal dresses, they continue to only make positive comments. It’s as if someone, perhaps Amal’s PR team or her friends or family member are trying to keep the comments more balanced by making fake positive statements on Amal’s style. Don’t know if this will be published, but it’s the truth and not coming from jealously, hatred or unfounded criticism.

      2. To further, I believe many women here support other women. She should wear what she wants to where as she choose. However, as a caveat, that does not mean that what she wears is tasteful or fashionable, as that is a personal opinion. Personally, I find her taste on the wrong side of tacky. My hunch is that the reason she irks people, is that Amal comes across as smug. I did not say she was smug, I said she comes across as smug and haughty. Smugness paired with the consumerism coupled with her international human rights/criminal legal background just is a breeding ground for dislike. Just because a woman does not like or approve of another woman does not make her jealous. We have agency is our thoughts and experiences that lead to opinions – not all concluding in envy. We are more than just that, c’mon. Ladies, we all just play into the patriarchy whenever the ‘hater’ or ‘jealousy’ defense is used. It’s simplistic and reductionist – leave that to the simpletons.

      3. Not a fan of Charlotte Tilbury make up. Very garish, 80’s American make-up style (Tilbury is behind a good 35 years), no one buys her make up in the USA. Considered cheap & low quality. No one is a fan of Anna Wintour here either; pretentious, don’t find her to be stylish in any way-shape-or form and quite frankly she’s thought of as a butt sniffer.

  5. The boots are terrible and really not the right shoe for this dress und engagement. It seems, sometimes she forgets her age. Just ridiculous. Maybe a young girl can wear this boots and dress together, but not a woman in her forties.
    I also saw the pics, where she wears this awful ,red corset. Here in Germany we would say, she looks cheap, just like a „ curb swallow“.

I’m going to have to respectfully say that this comment is insulting to women (you’re a woman I am assuming) What a disservice to say Bc Amal is in her 40’s that she shouldn’t be wearing this outfit. First of all, She JUST turned 40 so there is one inaccuracy in your statement. Second, where is this outfit inappropriate for anyone of any age? And how awful to say that a person Bc of their age shouldn’t wear something – a conservative dress with boots? This is an absurd comment and quite frankly, shame on you for helping perpetuate the myth that age is not just a number and that a woman’s wardrobe should be defined Bc of it.

  8. I love the dress ( the fit of it is spot on would love this inbany color ) and I love these boots such a great match!

    I hope most of u can understand Lebanese women dress up for even a stroll or shopping trip it’s in the blood – lol she’s not out to outshine anyone it’s simply in their culture I promise u take a trip to Beirut – or google Beirut fashion. She’s not out for attention

    2. Soos, thanks for your context. I tried to incorporate cultural context into what we are interpreting. I really did but I actually knew Amal in NYC, very casually, but she did beam when she was the center of attention. I don’t know how much to attribute to that being “Lebanese” or her just being ‘her.’ I find it very, very odd that this Jackson person can’t believe that anyone on this blog her Amal. She was a human being with a life before George. You know her, I knew her in a limited way. Why is that so incredulous?

      1. Her family is a well known family from Lebanon too and if u know the middle eastern culture we are all connected or know each other somehow haha honestly this is why I was drawn to her because of that connection and knowing the Alamuddin/Miknas family .

        I really think the standing out in a crowd thing is a Lebanese thing still not purposeful attention grabber

But does not explain the superiority commentary. I asked if you thought your comments teetered on ethnicity superiority.

        You write as though Lebanese women are superior in many varying ways as other women. I’m asking you to explain.

    2. Given the rate of poverty in Lebanon is 1 in 4 at conservative estimates, I do not think there is much substance to Soos’ commentary and claims that Lebanese women are fashion mongers. I think with a population of over 6 million, with a quarter living in poverty, that leaves a lot of families without access to Vogue, label shoes, expensive handbags and OTT fashion. Soos is very proud of Amal marrying a western Hollywood foreigner, but I’m certain the Lebanese population outside of the wealthy, really does not care and is more worried about access to health care, education, infrastructure and the degree of corruption in Lebanon.

People who can’t even afford their cell phone bill- get glammed up to go make a coffe date with friends , Lebanese people are resistant and persistent !!! As bombs are over head they are still clubbing and e noting their lives they created a CLUB out of a bomb shelter google BO18.

      3. That’s a result of low level of education. People more worried about their appearance than what they learn or do, than, as you say, more important issues such as nutrition, healthcare, education, economy, future… anything really is more important than “fashion”, especially in third world countries. Maybe that’s part of why they are stuck in the poverty loop but they are “happy” as long as they can dream with Vogue…

  11. Beautiful in red. Great cause. (Not a fan of Nikki Haley). Somewhat laughable for UN to support freedom of press & journalists (along with Nikki Haley) who works, supports, touts a man who is very uneducated and respectful to the freedom of the press and the profession of journalism thereof. I do however, like the cause that Amal is involved in (minus wishy-washy inconsistent Nikki Haley who is laughable, mediocre at best, and loves to hear herself talk whether it is meaningless or not 👎). Amal should ditch Nikki Haley, but still advocate for the journalists.

  12. Perhaps men/women do not wear watches so much these days because their cell phones are quickly accessible to check the time. People seem to often check time with their cellphones now. Perhaps this is why (??)
