It is so over the top to be talking about Human Rights but to never leave the house without putting on 5000 pounds worth of NEW clothes each time. Even the Royals like Kate Middleton or Princes Mary are seen in off the peg dresses for 500 pounds and wear repeats. Amals clothes obsession becomes flagrant and flashy.

I believe the day is fast approaching when amal will need to decide whether she want’s to revel in the Hollywood celebrity lifestyle she so obviously adores or remain focussed on her work and build her reputation in legal human rights. She cannot be both. She cannot do both. Not because she is a woman, but because these two worlds are at opposite ends. Sashaying into the United Nations with a fresh blowout and head to toe attention grabbing couture -with hairdressers and makeup artists & designers tweeting about it. It’s all started to feel a bit wrong.

I’ve become less judgemental in the last few years and I have to disagree. It seems that Amal has always wanted to be in the spotlight, she would not have married George, if not.
This is my take on Amal. Always working toward a degree, an esteemed one as it is, but maybe she dreamed of being a model or someone revered in that vein.
Is it a crime that she should fulfill that childhood fantasy? I’m giving her a break. As I said on another thread (or maybe this one below), who cares. She may return to law when she’s gotten the fame out of her system. I don’t know but I’ll cut her some slack.
When and if she represents another deplorable dictator or one of his henchmen, then I’ll have a problem with her actions but for now, she seems like she’s just enjoying her life.
I may eat my words but I doubt it. Cheers.

Anyone else notice that the photographers and media didn’t recognize who Amal was until AFTER they asked Cindy who she was there with? You can see in the video Cindy cupping her mouth and telling them twice it’s Amal Clooney and then they yelled for Amal to come back!

I don’t know her so I cannot dislike her. I think Amal is an extraordinarily lucky woman on many levels. However, its no secret that she is too often way over-the-top and attention- seeking in her fashion choices and mannerisms, to the point of ridicule and obsession. If your going to have a fashion blog, you should be open to all different perspectives about Amal’s look and fashion sense. That’s what keeps the blog objective and gives it credibility. If your going to monitor it with a positive bias, then the blog loses its integrity. If someone is using foul language etc, I could totally understand why you would not want to include those comments on the blog but as for the rest of the opinions, if they relate to her fashion sense and appearance, they are fair comments. If Amal modifies her attention seeking fashion ways in a more gracious direction, I would be the first to compliment her.

Amal is Glam Mama!!!!! She looks stunning. I wish she’d wear wigs more, not just for Halloween. Her hair is Beyond Sexy and Wondeful! There was a time (60s and 70s) when women wore wigs to have fun and add variety to their appearance. Why should wigs only be for costume parties or, sadly, if one has cancer? Wigs are Fun!!! Amal sure knows how to use color. Her hot pink clutch against all that deep green, witchy glitter makes my heart sing. Her bold makeup and large hoops, the wild, fun hair, it’s all such Bohemian Glamour!

What’s happening is that Amal is losing respect. I can’t think of any other celebrity other than the Kim kardashion types that are as obsessed with this kind of fashion and camera attention as Amal is. I think she is very insecure, deep down inside, about her appearance.

Well she definitely did everything she could with hair and outfit to get more noticed than anyone else. Not sure she looks dressed for a Halloween party. She just decided to wear the most attention grabbing outfit she could find. And something weird going on at her her thighs….just realized it’s a tight girdle to hide her post baby changes. Always having undergarment issues. An oiytfit kike that needs to either be worn with. I underwear or perhaps some nude colored hose that has built in slimmer.

I don’t think anyone would wear a real haute couture out of the runaway for a Halloween party, except someone famous trying to be more famous and trying to show off the brands ( shoes, glasses, makeup, everything..) …and cashing in somehow. The others are just trying to be silly and have fun (that’s what Halloween is for), but she is really working out the press/fashion as usual. In one video, Cindy just left her alone with the photographers, like if she knew that was Amal “work”. :- )
By the way, that wig, her only fun complement, looks sooo natural and perfect on her !!!

I’ve always thought that Amal was being compensated for wearing her designer clothes but I wonder why you have a problem with that.
Here’s a possibility. George told Amal that he’s not buying her clothes, unless it’s for an appearance with him for one of his functions. What he did do was hook her up with Wintour (a close friend of his agent’s, who in return for a cut, sets her up with the designers paying a nice fee.
From what I saw in the video, the photographers asked Amal to stay, as they’d likely been told to do.
I’ve always thought this was a contractual ‘relationship’, just like Clooney’s last three, as far as I’ve seen. I still don’t believe she carried the twins but if this is what they both wanted, so be it.
I don’t see any reason to overly criticize Amal and find some of the comments here unnecessary. She looks great and is in her element. Maybe a world she dreamed of as a girl.
I was really good friends with a model once. Gorgeous, friendly, sweet and you’ve seen her in shows and on covers, if you’re of a certain age.
She needed more in her life and went off with a doctor she’d fallen in love with to help refugees and last I know, she was still doing so.
People do change course, and some, as may be in Amal’s case, want something else.
None of this means that she won’t eventually return to law.
If you want to criticize Amal for wearing designer clothes then you should criticize everyone who does, and they’re paying thousands a day to do so with most of them not giving a damn for the needy.
At least Amal and George are donating money to worthy causes, or so it seems.

Hi Sasha, I do share your point about Wintour, the “twins”, her dream to be a celebrity…. She slowly have moved into modeling. The real modeling profession even though it looks fascinating when models are famous, is indeed very hard for most models. All my respect for them. We cannot compare a regular model work with Amal’s. She is not a model, no matter how much she tries, and she does indeed, everywhere she goes, even when she was trying to help Nadia, and that’s why she is being critiqued. Eventually “too much” is being noticeable and possibly laughable. Nothing wrong with any of it. It is her choice. Like her husband changing the Cohen’s script and realizing too late he made an obvious and clear mistake just to fulfill his political moves. Too much can do some damage..
About donating money to worthy causes. All millionaires and celebrities do it nowadays, it helps with their taxes and it cleans their image… :- ) especially if that “helping” has media coverage, and theirs always have.

I agree that her overdoing the fashion walks can be too much but I would say that very few even have a clue. You, I and others here believe she’s being paid to ‘model’ by designers but do you really think the world has any idea? People who’ve been in fashion get it and some who follow celebrities but that’s about it.
Although waning, George still has a very large audience (I’m not talking about his films *ouch*) and women will buy those designs. Don’t underestimate what they’ll pay her and you’re right, she doesn’t have to do much to earn it, unlike professional models. She likes the attention.
Also, I don’t think George would have any chance politically, not in our present climate.
The Trumpers feel like they’ve finally had their voices heard (and actually registered to vote) and I find it unlikely that they’re willing to give it up. Yes, we’re going backwards, for now.
I wouldn’t overestimate what the true wealthy give to charity. They give what they have to for two reasons, one is because they need the deductions anyway and two is simply for appearances sake amongst their peers and more often the case is that they’re playing game of I’ll give your foundation 1 million and you’ll give mine the same. Who’s really benefiting from those foundations is the question.

This is the big problem, which occurred right from Amal’s start in the public eye. Many people tried to upgrade Amal by devaluating other people, because some people thought Amal could not stand beside other women, so they had to downgrade these women by calling them tacky and/or stupid. What sort of a PR is this? Amal can stand by herself, but the agency obviously does not trust her qualities. This comparing all the time is pathetic. It was and is even tried to talk trash about George Clooney. Amal would be nowhere without him. That is a fact.

How about creating a blog about Meghan? I do like that lady very much and her mother also. Her mother profession, social services, shows care, dedication and hard work, and she is a yoga teacher :- ) Meghan is natural, spontaneous, an animal lover, elegant, she doesn’t need “extra” makeup/accessories/haute couture to be beautiful and she doesn’t need extra attention. Meghan is more superficial than Amal. At least Amal is a lawyer and has some accomplishments under her belt. Meghan is an actress… which is perfect for her next role in the Royal Family, if you think about it. Meghan comes from a privileged background in showbiz and had help from her father and possibly ex-husband getting where she currently is. True, she’s beautiful, but that’s also due to primping just like Amal. She obviously straightens her hair and spends countless hours in front of the mirror.

LOL! A lot of women straighten their hair, including many who are not black. It’s not racist to point out that Meghan straightens her hair. Look at her middle and high school photos – she has naturally curly hair. Amal straightens her hair, as well – a fact that’s been pointed out before. Personally, it’s not a look that I like. I love naturally curly hair – some of my relatives have beautiful curly (even kinky) hair that they don’t straighten (in part because straighteners can be toxic, but mostly because they are proud of their natural look).
There’s a lot written about the dominant Anglo-Western societal pressure used on black (and brown) women to force them to conform to [racist] Western “beauty” standards. Hair straightening is one of those tools historically used for this purpose. Unfortunately, hair straightening, as I pointed out above, also usually comes with toxic exposure. This, if used by more black (and brown) women, could disproportionately increase health risks in that population.
Also, if you look at genetics, most African-Americans in the U.S. have some non-African heritage. To say that someone identifies as bi-racial in the U.S. only means that one parent was categorized as “white” while the other was categorized as “black” primarily based on physical attributes (you can read many historical accounts of people with African heritage “passing” as white to escape the classification as black). Of course, that doesn’t mean that those crude racial categories didn’t come with racist/racial cultural issues/expectations.

LOL is right. Your ethic dissertation aside, very aside, you aren’t concerned about straightening treatments and I presume you do realize that chemicals aren’t the only way to achieve straight hair.

I was just thinking about how spent about 2 hours getting ready for a special dinner last Friday night and thought I might share my experience.
I leisurely showered, moisturized my skin, head to toe. Proceeded to pour a (large) glass of wine and even smoked a cigarette. I know, for shame, and surely much more deadly than *gasp* Keratin or chemical processes.
I proceeded to apply makeup, even foundation and concealer, shadow, blush, mascara and lipstick, the works (as one does, occasionally, at least).
And then (you won’t believe this), I blow dried my hair and decided to add CURLS to my very straight, naturally blonde hair using a curling iron.
I’m pretty sure Norway didn’t give a flying fuck.
Just as no one, not the entire continent of Africa nor African-Americans give a damn if Meghan straightens her hair. Same goes for Amal and anyone Lebanese. Trust me on this one. 😉

This is the last comment that I will grace you with in response to your airheaded, vacuous nonsense. First of all, I did refer to Meghan as “beautiful.” I don’t dislike her – I don’t know here. However, her actions resemble any other PR-whore Hollywood star, in my opinion. That was my main criticism of her. Now, she gets the opportunity to drain British tax dollars on her wardrobe and travel expenses. BTW, I think of all people in showbiz as PR-whores, if that’s any comfort to you.
My second criticism was of *Harry* and, in general, the British royal family. Like Harry marrying a woman with African descent is going to erase their racist, colonial past? Also, he’s another buffoon, just like the rest of them, draining British tax dollars that could be spent on people who really need economic assistance.
Third of all, I personally identify as “brown” and mixed race. If you read even a portion of my previous posts here, I occasionally like to point out how disappointed I am that Amal (and others) likes to alter her appearance to conform to Western beauty standards. Just look at her various facial reconstructions (rhinoplasty, etc.).
Finally, where you see alleged “racism”: I think thou dost project too much. You’re reading something into my comments that isn’t there, and thus you must be thinking those thoughts, yourself.

Lady if you need to compare to degrade Meghan, you are forgetting that Amal never had any economic problem. She went to the best schools and two best universities all paid by her parents. later she had the best contacts to have them as customers (ie, Saudi Arabia royal family among others) with the role of attorney advisor. She never had problems to pay rent or groceries. What’s the point of going to the best universities and later not using your skills to do some good work? Her “human rights attorney” thing is more on paper/press than reality, like the fighting isis.
Meghan, on the other hand, made herself on her own, and when that happens, she deserves respect.. She made a name of herself with her own merits with no help with mum’s money and influence. Meghan’s Mother works as a social service for elderly. Can you imagine the celebrity of Baria helping the poor and elderly ? :- )

@Coco2, phvdh – How about a blog about women who are REALLY accomplished and successful SELF-MADE women, NOT women who marry rich men and use their money and fame to promote themselves, being only socialites and rich men arm candy? These self-made women are TRUE ROLE MODELS for younger women.

Anna Wintour surely decides who hosts every year. And it always seems to be a mix of celebrities, socialites/philanthropists and designers. If one is asked to host the MET gala, it means you have made it into the elite world of fashion.

I honestly can’t believe some of the comments here. Surely there is enough venom-worthy people in the world to go around where you don’t have to pile on one who hasn’t exhibited your so-called worthiness of such behavior.
