VPD and others who dwell on Amal’s body parts: We have a terrific recent example of a magazine that purchased a bogus report about George and Amal that George said was fabricated. I suspect that there are “writers” who go through blogs such as this where bloggers state affirmatively that they know Amal had surgery on her ears, her nose, her teeth, and so on. First, whatever Amal had done is her own private business. I do not know her but it is hard to imagine that Amal told whoever on this blog says she knows Amal, “go ahead and broadcast this personal information.” I suspected the Hello Magazine article was not accurate from statements made that were not consistent with interviews with George but I had no idea that so much of it was fabricated and this kind of blog is one venue where these “writers” get their information.

I was quite disappointed by Hello ! A journalist has always to verify the source. My first impression about the article was “nothing new” …. Most of George Cooney quotes came from past tv interviews. Since Amal accepted to marry George she had to accept the “celebrity” status and to be in spotlight.

This is a very good discussion to have on this blog as we are all interested in this very modern theme.
See, I don’t think Mika’s comment “proves” anything. I think the fact Amal has had nose, ear etc or whatever surgery – proves she may be the one that is “superficial”. Wasn’t it enough to be smart and wonderful at her job? Why does she not value her achievements above her appearance?
“The world” is not superficial Nati. Some people in the world are superficial. They show this through their actions (clothes, bags, shoes, conspicuous consumption etc etc) and the way they alter their physical appearance to conform to some ideal they carry in their mind.
Prior to George, she was still stunning – a typically Middle Eastern exotic looking lady. She is more and more looking like just another fashionista preoccupied with her presentation.
The images of her preening herself prior to the conference detracted from her status as an intelligent and serious woman for me. I understand this may not be the same for others.
The “world” is not making her do anything. She can be smart and strong when she wants to be. It is her own insecurities over her appearance and her wish to look like someone different to who she was born as. They are HER values Nati – not the world’s.

@Mika… beauty is definitelly in the eye of the beholder… because, me, and i am sure many others, think that Amal looks very pretty on these candid snapshots. One can see that she always had a great sense of style, she always flirted with the camera, she seems to just be her own self, then and now. Finding that out can be very disconcerting to some people, who are always so sure of who others are even though all they have are assumptions.

It is not nonsense at all
Think of how many young arabian and non arabian women look up to her and strive to have her looks, get depressed in front of an ugly nose or a few pounds more.. These pictures and accompanying comments serve to help everyone see things for what they really are.
Amal is not and should not be a Hollywood product, yet she should represent what she aimed before knowing Cloiney.
Whay trying to make her seem less human and more supermegagalactic from what she really is?
Why lying that she doesnt have a fashion advisor, an assistant, a nose surgery or a restrictive diet that is making her look like a sunflower lately?
These are aspects that make you loose trust, respect and appreciation for a person that you previousely followed as an example and I find it strange that she allowes George and his team to make her become ridiculous.
Don t forget, there are so many girls prettier than she is, smarter than she is, richer than she is, but she won this mediatic attention just because she seemed a girl next door that got Clooney’s attention for her brains and style.

Dear Ginevra, the problem is to describe her as “a natural beauty” (see last Hello George interview”). She had also an ears job. Another problem is our superficial society and the reality is tragical for the young women who have to be “perfect” to get a job or a boyfriend. Real beauty comes from within.

Ginevera, sorry but your very words prove that, one does not have to be perfect to be loved and appreciated. You said that Amal is not the most beautiful, not the smatest, but yet, George saw inner beauty in her or something special that enticed him. So, sorry but I dont understand your imput because it seems contradictory? Besides, i have not seem Amals certificate or flag as the World’s Young Women Role Model. Nobody should rely on her as a role model, they should have their own parents or their own selves as role models. Confidence starts at home and from within.

It maybe just me, but I think she looks really pretty in these pictures. So much more relaxed, authentic and confident than in post wedding pictures. Also video’s of her speeches/ presentation doesnot show a confident woman who really stands for the things she says.

Nati, I agree with you. I find it humiliating to read lies in front of such evidence. These surgeries are not a proof that she is less pretty, on the contrary, it should serve as an example that everything is esthaetically possible, but it is the style and the brains that should be put in first place, as they are the real fuel of one’s personality. Otherwise, we are looking at another project/product of a well trained team and that makes me think that the process od globalization is worse than we are imagining…

Nati, is the reason she never puts her hair up because she is insecure about her ears? She has styled her hair in the exact same way, even for her wedding, for the duration of this blog. Parted to the left side. She did one or two times change it up but it’s always covering her ears. Now it makes sense. Thanks Nati.

I continue to be absolutely amazed (and disheartened) that so many people on this blog are wrapped up in what they believe to be true about Amal. None of us know Amal, none of us have talked to Amal, none of us has any control over what is reported that she “said.” It is what the legal profession calls hearsay. Some bloggers profess to know the names of doctors or friends of Amal’s who “reportedly told the blogger the information” but it is all rumor. Ginerva and others make attempts to make comments credible and assert they know the “truth” of the matter but none of us know firsthand anything about her. To Ginerva and others who are obsessed with Amal’s body parts you must have something better to do with your time. If you have lost trust in Amal as you indicate I have to wonder what your obsession with her is really about given that you do not know her personally and seem so affected by gossip columnists who by and large make things up to get their print purchased.

As to the “hearsay” I knew Amal in New York in the 2000s. She did have at least one nose job. That’s what lawyers call evidence.

Jackson, I am not a blogger. I m a MD and I know what I m talking about.
Your comments, on the other hand, seem to be coming from a source created by Amal’s team with intention to discredit any information that she is not pleased with, whether true or not.
I might stop writting comments here, but that will not block nor erase people’s capacity of judging by themselves various aspects that Amal or whoever for her, is trying to hide. Unfortunately, being famous and appearing in the piblic eye has a price, and this seems to be it.

Ginerva: Maybe this will help you understand my position. In the US and I suspect in other countries practitioners who treat clients/patients are forbidden to repeat anything about their client/patient. People who claim to be friends or acquaintances also uphold the privacy of their friends by not repeating anything personally shared with them. I do not know who you are but if you are a practitioner, shame on you for divulging confidential information. If you are a friend or acquaintance, shame on you for repeating something likely said to you in confidence and not to be broadcasted on a public blog. If you are a bystander what you share is hearsay and what is used to start rumors.

There is an issue you are obviusly overlooking:
Most people did not even dream of becoming celebrities and have previousely lived their lives in a more open manner, discussing their choices openly and freely.
Do not assume any irregularities or violations of codes, ethics nor confidence as there is no place for that, and keep in mind that while you are interpreting things your way and pointing fingers, disapperaing pictures from instagram and other sources are an example that a person who once openly discussed her choices and did not mind showing them off, in the light of the new social position has changed her mind about sharing it with the others.
And that is exactly what we are talking about.

I do think the second picture isn’t a good one at all. yes, she’s had a nose job. She was still very attractive with her nose, now just more so. But really,w is that any different than the thousands and thousands of people who have worn metal braces on their teeth…..for years! Not one bit. Or…the women who wear contacts lenses! That’s very unnatural. I see no difference.

Beauty lies within. It’s important for people to feel comfortable, whether they are the natural type or the one who feels pretty with makeup. In life, no one should “stereotype” another based on looks. If anything, it might be nice if Amal keeps the pics up from yesteryears. It shows to all that she was once “just like us”. We can’t look perfect all the time as women, nor should we feel we have to. I hope Amal doesn’t feel she always has to continue this perfection; bag, sunglasses, perfect shoes, hair, make up. She has kept this up for a couple years now. Perfection. Beauty radiates from within. š

I think the pictures are fine, too. They make her a little more “like us”. I say keep them up for the public to see. Everyone evolves & changes over time. And this is okay. It’s fun to see pictures from previous years. If she had a nose job, Amal should be comfortable making it known. If she had an ear job (never heard of this kind of surgery), then there’s nothing to hide about this either. She can’t control what former pics come out. “It’s the price of fame” so they say. I think over time, we will continue to see her tweak and perfect herself: teeth, more nose work, perhaps breast enhancement, feet/toes, etc. Maybe Botox. Hair, eyebrows. Whatever it takes to reach perfection is what we will see her do. She is in that realm and status arena of celeb look now. “Chiseled and Perfect”.

Given we are not in a court of law, none of this is “hearsay”. However, if JR knows directly (she was involved in the cosmetic procedure) or if Amal told her she had plastic surgery then it is not hearsay. It is hearsay if you, Jackson, or I now repeat it. For eg. I know Amal had plastic surgery because JR says Amal told her she did. It is not hearsay if JR says it. None of us have any idea how JR knows, but I’m not sure anyone should be calling her a liar. Courtesy 101.

Monalisa- I am talking about ethics issues. If the surgery was done in the US there are HIPPA regulations and the same is true in hte UK. If the surgery was done in another country there may be similar laws. It is not worth going into the ethics issues with you because you and others are determined to either make things up “that you know” or disclose private information that is covered by HIPPA or you just repeat what someone told you or someone else in private. I just do not believe a lot of the things people on this blog and other social media sites report that they “know.” Someone asked Nati how she knew Amal had her ears done and Nati said she compared photos. Give me a break. Every social media site including this blog reprinted what they believed was a true interview in HELLO only to find out that it was fabricated. People make things up all the time and I teach ethics and qualitative research and take what I read with a grain of salt because it most likely is not true.

RedTurtleneck- You are missing the point of what I have said. When people on this blog (and other social media venues) make up information several things can occur: 1) what we saw with Hello Magazine which George stated was largely fabricated, 2) rumors begin, and 3) bloggers begin to believe that what they read is true. When someone says “Amal had her ears done” it begs the question “How do you know that?” and the person says “I see a difference between what I see in an old grainy photo taken several decades ago and what I now see.” After Nati said that I went back and looked at the grainy photo taken at a distance and “today’s photos” and we have no idea based on the photo that Amal had her ears done. That is not an insult of Nati. It is a statement about our severe limitations in doing observations and then reporting what we think we see as truth and it feeds other venues such as magazines who then blatantly report that Amal had her ears done. We have now gotten to the point that there really is no venue on social media that can be trusted with information about Ama’s body parts. It has nothing to do with her having married a celebrity. It has to do with separating what we believe and what Amal herself has reported. And I have yet to come across a video of Amal speaking about surgeries of her body parts.

I think this is very easy – if a nose was big and is much smaller after some years: that must be an Operation – called nose Job. The same Thing with the huge ears on the photo from highschool. What do you think, they shrink without being operated, just from dieting?

I agree with the many commentors who have-correctly I think-observed changes in Amal’s appearance. While I think there is nothing wrong with making corrections on teeth for example, making multiple changes (plastic surgery etc) is IMO another thing. From viewing multiple before/after pictures of Amal I suspect she had dental work, multiple nose & chin implant surgeries. I am not sure about ear work. I have also wondered about facial liposuction because the geometry of her face is so different from earlier photos. Because she obviously worked very hard at academics and is very accomplished in this arena, I really wonder why Amal has focused so much on changing her appearance. I think it sends the message that it is not enough for a woman to be academically accomplished( and working on her career) and that’s not the message I think we women should be perpetuating. Full disclosure, I have a very ethnic nose, which I would never consider changing. I like to think that it links me with my ancestors!

Phdvdh and others: I am an academic and teach at the doctoral level. I teacher qualitative research methods and I teach ethics. I teach my students how to conduct observations and how important it is not to interpret behavior. People who come onto social media venues such as blogs interpret behavior, they make up what they think they know based on a photo, and they state that what they believe is the truth. Unfortunately what we see happen when this occurs is what happened with HELLO magazine. The article in question was largely fiction. How do we know this: because the person who the article was written about said much of what was written was fabricated. I use blogs as examples to my students to show them what can happen when a person believes that a body part got smaller or larger as evidence of surgery. As my students pointed out to me there are many videos on how to apply makeup to modify almost any perceived imperfection. They also show me that depending on how a person stands or moves or what they wear can change how their body looks. So, Phvdh and others, you are of course welcome to state what you believe is truth but I for one do not believe it. However, others may. In the case of HELLO magazine we know that much of the information in the article was according to George Clooney, fabricated.

Your rationale still does not disprove, including the Hello article, that some posters may actually know Amal and know the truth. No matter how much you impress upon this blog re: your professional background, academic achievements and the aforementioned Hello article.

Sally- For the posters that know Amal and were there when she had these many different surgeries they need to step up and state they know Amal personally and were with her when she had her surgery and Amal said it was fine to broadcast it on blogs. Then I will believe. For now, it is just gossip.
