  1. If you look at the sponsors board you can see Casamingos Tequila is a major sponsor of this event. Welcome to the cynical world of commercial self promotion and interest. George Clooney sponsors the event and so Amal Clooney (and her mother) get a starring role, front and centre of this event. On cue Charlotte Tilbury (and its probably part of the contract) sends out many messages on social media about the “Mesmerising Amal” and the “Beautiful Baria”. Everything is a business transaction. The same with the clothes. Amal’s body is now a walking product placement advertisement for designer labels from head to toe, showcasing their latest collections. My question is – can you really say a person has STYLE when you notice the LABELS and the cost of the outfits – before you notice her PRESENCE, her CHARISMA, her CHARM and ORIGINALITY? Qualities that Amal Alamuddin seemed to have before changing her surname to CLOONEY?

As for this outfit (and yes Nati, I haven’t forgotten we are here to discuss clothes) I can immediately see this on Taylor Swift – or even Cindy Crawford’s daughter. In other words, a cute outfit for a young girl – but for Amal? In some of these photos she reminds me of a little girl playing grown ups, with her cutesy little poses and her matching fur jackets with mummy.

On the other hand maybe she is making a statement to quash the pregnancy rumours that have been circulating since September. In this instance, I do not blame her. I think the way the media speculates on a woman’s fertility (Jennifer Anniston has been experiencing this for decades) is out of control. Maybe it was her way (even subconciously) or trying to end the constant speculation about her body.

    1. I didn’t post the tequila bottles …. The suit seems to be too large for her. But since the beginning we know that she loves fashion and sometimes with an original touch. She was the star at this event and the other persons have been outshined by her presence. Geoffrey Robertson told in an interview that she always had an original style.

    2. Time will tell whether or not the pregnancy rumors are true or not. This outfit is so baggy and the top of the pants cut above her true waist. Could be that she is not showing very much yet. Also, Charlotte has been known to contour her legs…so who knows(?).

      1. Why in the world are you so anxious for Amal to be with child? Are you planning to apply for the nanny position?

  2. Very disappointed to see her and her mother in fur. Wouldn’t expect that from someone so intelligent. The Tilbury makeup is WAY overdone and ruins her usual sophisticated look. Beginning to look more like a Kardashian every day. What a shame.

      1. Nati hi,
I ve just checked, the word has it that it s real fur unfortunately 😦 😔
Amal likes and insist on luxury stuff, furs or snake skin included
I ve also checked and whoever is signing in as Piper, is not the real Piper I know
Big kiss and way to go for the labels you ‘ve identified ❤️

      2. How does anyone who was not in attendance know for certain whether fur was real or fake? You have to feel the fur to know if it is real or fake. If you go to the humane society on the Internet it explains how to tell if fur is fake or real and it REQUIRES actually handling the fur.

    1. I totaly agree.. fur is so old and backwards.. not sexy, not interesting… so shallow and boring minds… disapointed at her and her bunch 😦

  3. She looks beautiful, as usual, but I’m not loving the outfit. It looks too stiff, crunchy — like a project runway reject or a high school fashion project done the night before it was due. However, Amal still manages to make it look tolerable with the coat, the rockin shoes, and and her fresh, confident smile.

Also, I’m not sure how old her mom is but she looks great.

  4. Fun, fun, fun! Love the outfit…want those shoes, “winters” look much better in silver than gold. I am not loving Charlottes eye makeup or the fit of her dress. Baria looks wonderful, beautiful dress.

  5. Her makeup is GORGEOUS!! I think the outfit is a bit ill fitting on her. Looks boxy and not well tailored for her frame. I think we can put the pregnancy rumors to bed since she is showing rock hard abs!

  6. With this outfit, Amal definitely puts to rest the persistent rumors that she is pregnant! Her abdomen looks flat as a board. She looks like flesh and bones wrapped in tin foil!

  7. What is going on with Amal’s team of gofers? Not a single one of them told her that her bra was poking out! If it was me, I would fire them all!

    1. Trixie- Relax. You are the only one who seems to really care about this. So much emotion over something as trivial as a part of a bra showing.

    2. is she blind? Cant she see if for herself that her bra is showing??? Perhaprs she cant see anything right after putting on that silly fur coat….

  8. This outfit for sure is an eye catcher but I don’t like it on her. I also don’t understand why AC wears a mink jacket; not to forget that her mother wears fur as well. AC fights for humans but obviously not for animals. Nowadays there are so many alternatives! I have almost the same (vintage!) mink model but haven’t touched it since more than 20 years because I would feel ashamed.
As other posters before, I think AC should overthink her strategy of presenting herself in the public. It’s a thin line she’s meanwhile walking on (between seriousness and buffoonery) …

    1. for me, she has crossed that line, unfortunatelly… now i got a much more clear picture on hewr character and i dont like it. So self-centred!

  9. I do not like the Outfit at all and the make up is overdone. A shame, that such a nice and good looking woman has changed like that within a year. A Person reduced to clothes, make up and superficiality.

  10. The “compassionate” human rights lawyer shows that “compassion” doesn’t extend to the animals that are breed and slaughtered in the most inhumane way to keep her shoulders warm. She also needs to understand that simply throwing clothes on isn’t enough no matter how much they cost, they need to fit too. How very disappointing.

      1. Nati, on what information do you make that statement about which fur coat is real and which is faux? Amal’s looks like mink

      2. I am seriously perplexed by this response.

Amal has worn fur numerous times before, and snakesskin and countless other endangered species so why the reluctance to acknowledge that she’s very likely wearing real fur here?

And why so happy to accept that her mother is wearing real fur with nothing to back that up?

Plainly, both have no issue with wearing fur or any other endangered species so why are you singling her mother out here?

  12. I love that Amal wears vintage, but this outfit in my opinion may be a tad young for her. As far as her under garments showing – who cares. So she’s not perfect. Not the end of the world. The shoes are great and really make this outfit work. Now – that fur coat has got to go. It doesn’t even go with this outfit and vintage or not it just looks frumpy. These coats look good on no one. The fact that she wears fur is baffling to me and obviously many others. The makeup is much too heavy for this outfit. I think she should of gone with something softer. Like her wedding day makeup. I think it’s good biz for George to have sponsored the event. It is a business event after all. Amal is only 37 – she’s having fun with fashion and going out. More power to her.

  13. Glad to see that Amal is wearing vintage again, even though I don’t much care for the cut or material of the Lanvin outfit (it has a vintage mid-century Atomic Age vibe). The silver colour suits her very nicely. If the fur is vintage, I see no harm in it. But, if it’s new, then I have issues with it. Not a fan of the shoes or the clutch, although the shoes complement the outfit.

Both Baria and Amal seem to enjoy the media attention a bit too much. Of course, Tilbury invited her famous clients to this event to promote her products, so in some sense, they’re all working for her here.

All of this celebrity promotion is so slimy. I’d have a lot more respect for Amal (and her mother) if they were more low-key and didn’t do these sorts of things. It’s like they are all endorsing each others’ “brands” (yes, Amal is a “brand,” just like Tilbury) in a sort of continual circle of shallow mutual gratification. Continual hype about nothing, unfortunately.

  14. Re bra showing. I think having the right bra/undergarments are quite important as an element of style. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who has gotten dressed up for a chic event and lamented not having the right bra and having to “make do” – with often mixed results! When, how and what kind of bra to show is a style choice that can make or break the fit and look of an outfit. If showing the bra was an intentional choice, a lacy metallic look rather than a very plain off white cotton one would have worked better. Given that the armhole cutout is a key design feature of the top I think not seeing a bra would have been better – and there are lots of options out there that would have given her more support too.

Agree with others that the eye make up seems too heavy – even for a makeup party. As much as I love the retro feel of the outfit, it seems a bit too big for Amal and could have been tailored for a better fit. The shoes were perfection. Please tell me that purse isn’t Persian lamb.

  15. I’m sorry but she looks like chicken wrapped in aluminum foil – with a few unplucked feathers. For a human rights lawyer I am surprised she doesn’t care for animal rights and chooses to wear fur, with so many endangered species because of capitalist avarice of fashion houses and apathy of the bourgeois like Amal who continue to endorse animal cruelty.

  16. Casual Observer, Charlotte Tilbury did Amal’s wedding makeup so perhaps that is why Amal is there at the party.

As for the outfit, it’s very inappropriate for someone her age and shape. I know she likes fashion but it’s unsuitable. Her off duty style has become a bit too Kardashian since she got married.

  18. Is it my turn now? So, if I was Amal (but I am not!), if I was married to an infuencial super rich man (I am not but I love my hubby best), if I was her size (I suppose she is a size 2 or 4 at most, and I am an 8 on best days 10 on regular), if this if that….I would take all this money that the labels/brands/tequila this that are giving me, every photo, every event, every whatever, and I would direct ALL OF IT to humane causes. She is of Lebanese decent if I am correct, I would support the refugee crisis, the children, at least in a shalow distant way as Angelina, anything is better than nothing. After all she has studied for human rights, fashion smashion. All this commercial, consumerism, all this glamour, glits, when at the same time, children are drowning, women are being raped, men are being held captive, hospitals have no medicines, the world is polluted, I am not saying she is super woman to save the world. But if I had all this fame and money, I would be out there, next to these people in need. In jeans and a t-shirt size large, whatever. I hope she wakes up from this fairy go round world. About the outfit: It’s cute, who cares again with the age. Get a sense of humour ladies. There is no age for love, there is no age for fashion. I hope she is healthy. That’s all…Moody Tuesday.

    1. It is high time for you to wake up and smell the coffee! There is an age for everything! In Amal’s case, when she dresses like a teenager, instead of the adult, grown-up woman that she is, she looks totally ridiculous and becomes an easy target for nasty jokes! She should have more sense!

      1. Dear Suhail, I wake up just fine thank you, although I am trying to cut down on the coffee and I am mostly on green tea these days. Did you know green tea does wonders for your health as opposed to black coffee? My dear Suhail, I wish upon you a sense of humour. You will need this as you age gracefully or not, and you will have to deal with many of the fashion restrictions that come with age as set either by the media industry, or even worse, a couple of grumpy old women. No offence.

  19. Oh and something extra on the fur (if you like you can combine these comments, or not as you wish this is your blog anyways and thank you for having us ladies chat around here on our casual work breaks), OK I love Animals I do, but hey I eat meat, I try not to eat a lot of it, I try to eat organic at one point I tried eating only halal as this is deemed to be more ethical in the way they terminate the animals life, I wear leather shoes, actually I wear mostly leather shoes for work, and then I have suede and running shoes for my daily life (if you read up to this point I am impressed with your patience!), OK so enough about me, to judge the fur like it is cruel this that, do you know how cruel the slaughter houses are for pork? what about the chickens the way they need to lay so many eggs, and the milk? The cows are constantly milked when normally the milk is produced for their offspring and OK maybe some for the farmer but not this constant mass production. There is so much, so much cruelty in our world, and for needless things, like having too much of something. Too much milk, too many eggs, too many shoes, can you go with 2 at most 3 pairs of shoes? One for work, one for winter one for summer? Can you go with 1 serving of meat per month? Can you go with no meat? Can you go with less outfits? Can you make sure all your outfits are made ethically? Not by under age children in horrible working conditions in India, or Bangladesh or elsewhere where I am sure they cannot access this blog and express their thoughts on this injustice we are supporting with our excesses. So one vintage fur, that Baria mama, or Amal has is not the end of the world. It is the end of maybe 2-3 lives of animals. All the other daily excesses lead to hundreds of losses, if not even thousands on a yearly basis for the consumption needs of 1 person only. Me or you that is.

  20. I like Amal’s make up, she has strong features and can carry off bolder make up.
    Her mother resembles Elizabeth Taylor.
Extremely disappointing if the jackets are indeed real fur, that would be déclassé in every way………!!!😡

  21. I would disagree that she has a real job. Word at the Bar is essentially that she’s hired to give publicity to cases and does very little actual legal work. In short, even in her career, she has been reduced to drawing media attention by the fact of her marriage to an actor. And as far as I’m concerned, she allowed that to happen by her cultish coveting of the media at every opportunity. There’s such a frenzy everywhere she goes that it’s almost impossible to have a serious career at the bar anymore. Sad – because I used to admire her.

  22. I agree with you Nati when you say that Amal has the right to wear what she wants. But you are the one who created this blog and you are the one that invited comments on what she is wearing. So unless you have a personal or professional relationship with Amal Clooney or the Alamuddin Family – well I am at a loss to understand why you are so defensive about her,

She is wearing a fur jacket, occasionally she dresses a little bit too young for her age and is seduced by glamour and fame. She adores the attention that comes with the Clooney name, In other words – she is not perfect. She is human. If you don’t want to hear it – either close the blog or only accept comments that are in full agreement with your point of view.

And if you do shut out different points of view – then you will simply have to ask yourself “What is the point of this blog”

I for one hope Keep up this blog but keep the diversity of viewpoints and don’t take it is so personally,

  26. Amal’s makeup is a bit heavy but acceptable for such an event. Charlotte Tilbury looks like trash, a hooker, note her cheap cliche dress. I don’t understand the connection between the two. Amal need not feel she has to promote her or be promoted by her. Amal, here is good advice: promote your fellow country men. There is plenty of talent that can use your influence.

It describes it as a “jaw-droppingly ostentatious and unashamedly expensive Mayfair restaurant that caters to the “stateless super-rich”. I guess its the kind of place you wear an $18,200 Valentino mini dress to. But to me it seems a long way from the values of her day job as a human rights advocate and the qualities in her I was first attracted to.

  30. After seeing Amal deliberatelly wearing full fur coat, i lost all my admiration for her…as simple as that. She had so much going on for her, but i just cant put all that togethewr in the same brain and heart. Sudenly i dont think i would enjoy a conversation with her…. i tend to get bored really fast over people who are that much self-centred. Fur is so hundreds of years ago… it is not sexy, it is really nothing fashionwise. It is like placing women thousands of steps backwards A shame that has passed on from mother to daughter and it does not make neither one look any better or special.. quite the contrary… Baria on her end looks like a strange creature with that fur and it seems that Aladin’s lamp is hiding under her skirt. And hey Amal! Cavemen had to wear fur to survive the cold.. you dont seem to be cold at all so why the fur???? Maybe you are freezing in the heart??

Amal.. domage ma cher… tres domage… so many choices to make but you chose to go the shallow route. LEAVE THE ANIMAL SKIN ALONE! Build your own fur!

    1. How ironic that people on this blog are so up in arms about the fur! Get over yourselves. Pretty sure most of you have shoes and handbags made out of leather, and if you eat meat (and that includes fish, prawns, and chicken), then it is no different. Plenty of “fake” fur is actually rabbit…

I normally never read the comments because I find them vile, and I certainly won’t read them again. Nati, you really should consider turning off the comments.
