Amal Clooney arrived today afternoon in Male, Maldives capital. She was welcomed by the supporters of ex-president Mohamed Nasheed. She is in the Maldives to press for release of ex-leader Mohamed Nasheed.
Amal Clooney said the human rights situation in the Maldives was “deteriorating day by day” as she arrived Monday to press for the release of jailed former president Mohamed Nasheed.
She is part of the high-profile legal team representing Nasheed. Her visit to the island comes days after his local lawyer Mahfooz Saeed was stabbed by an unknown attacker.
“I’m here unfortunately at a time when the human rights situation and security situation are deteriorating day by day,” the private Maldives Independent website quoted her as saying at the airport.
Amal Clooney and her Washington-base co-counsel Jared Genser are expected to travel this week to the high-security Maafushi prison island where Mohamed Nasheed is being held.
Mohamed Nasheed, the country’s first democratically-elected leader, was toppled in February 2012 after a mutiny by police and troops that followed weeks of protests over the arrest of a top judge.

Perfect skin, hair and make-up (including lipstick shade). If Amal never went into law she could’ve make a killing at modelling – I want to have everything she wears. Her outfit is both flattering and profssional. I love the way she’s tall and still wears super high heels – she shows confidence. (I’m a giraffe and too insecure to wear heels.) Amal seems like the kind of person you want to hate because she seems to have so much going for her, but you can’t help liking.

She smiles and waves to camera while she is coming out of a prison visiting a person in a bad condition! Is she thinking of him at all or it is only the camera she ever think about?
Too many smiles just like in Egypt as if she is presenting herself and totally forgetting that it is all about her clients and there lives, future and families?
Look at Angelina and how she behaves when serving her cause , despite her beauty she doesn’t draw attention to herself and nobody can ever argue that Angelina is more beautiful and attractive than Amal

I absolutely agree – I would not want a
lawyer who constantly smiling and touching her/his hair. I wiould not one who is so obviously loving the paparazzi. However, I am also not a fan of Angelina – something is wrong with all of her moral attitude. But that’s a different story…. I am not sure about Amal. I don’t know how she behaved and looked before the Clooney Party started. I very much appreciate her obvious intelligence and her skills – but somehow she turns into a hollywood-desque type of partying girl. And even now seeing her at work she doesn’t look
really professional. Maybe getting away from the spotlight might help her becoming her real self or finding it again. Might make her more fluid and natural. Less self-centered. Let us give her a chance.

I am not surprised this comment comes from you Maha…never satisfied, always finding fault in everything… negs are such a bore!!!
A person can smile to a crowd that is smilling at her, if she does not she is rude and cold. And if she does, she is blamed for being out of touch ??? …. people are so unbelivablely unfair. How about making the difference between situatiomns? Amal acted apropiatelly to every moment, she can smile , she is not a robot ! It is so strange the kind of criticism people make.
