Amal and George Clooney have been spotted stetting out in New York yesterday evening. The pair enjoyed a romantic dinner date at Japanese restaurant Kappo Masa in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Now this is more like it! These NY photos are far more the Amal we know and love. She looks absolutely stunning. The skirt is pretty short, but lord knows she has the legs for it:-) I really like it when she wears strong colors, they look fabulous on her. Bravo!!

George was probably coming from work and didn’t change. He loves his jeans and is comfortable wearing them so why not , when they are going somewhere fancy he puts on a suit.

I live in nyc, down the block from sara jessica. The paparazzi is ALWAYSoutside their house. It is such an invasion of their personal space and privacy. I can’t imagime that George and Amal aren’t getting pretty annoyed each time they step out the door.
I enjoy looking at there photos and reading your blog. I do love gc and I am intrigued by his wife……. but the invasion of their privacy and the pure annoyance it must be for them to have photographers follow them around everywhere they go.
I am annoyed for them.

There are plenty of ways to achieve anonymity for a celebrity and his spouse, especially in NYC. Being seen living a glam life increases the value of their brand, so these public outings are very well-thought-out, imho. Yes, they look good — that is expected. Hers is a great outfit and compliments his well.
Here is what I don’t get — why is her hair blowing all over the place and his is not moving? Is she trying too hard? She looks so over-the-top star-struck and amateurish when compared to George’s expressionless, calm face. Yes, yes, I know she is new to the game (sort of),,, early on, though, she seemed much more unaffected by all the cameras.

The reason his hair is not moving is because it’s short and probably has gel in it. How is she trying too hard with her hair? With a little bit of wind, my hair bounces around like hers too.But I would like to see her wearing clothes more than once. She must feel the pressure being photographed all the time, but it looks superficial and I’m sure she is not. The only things she’s worn more than once, that I’ve seen, are her Prada boots and Amal bags.

She loves it… i do not think he does. She tries way to hard. Nobody looks that way everytime they step out of the house (or on her case, the Carlyle). What i want to know is when in the world does she have the time to do all that primping, shopping, and legal work.

Great outfit, although the skirt is too short for my taste. Also, isn’t it a bit on the chilly side for NYC right now? George looks like he’s freezing cold. I can only imagine that Amal must be, too, with open-toed booties and a miniskirt.

HA! I was wondering the same thing. He’s got a wool coat with scarf firmly wrapped against his neck and she’s in a short dress and coat with legs only protected by hosiery. It was probably warmer last evening in comparison to Thursday and Friday but still it’s still relatively cold out there.

now this is what i call an Amal outfit! I love it, especially the shoes. ❤ I wish they stay in NY forever because they get photographed a lot there and I really enjoy looking at their photos. Although I can understand why some people hate that, I personally love how awkwardly Amal handles the paps and the people around her. Its a nice change from how the usual expressionless and grumpy looking celebs. As for the privacy thing, well I really don't feel any sympathy to any celebrity in this regard, even the ones with children. they chose and strove to be famous, they get millions in return and live such a luxurious life, and if celebrities really really care about their privacy, they know how to stay away from the public eye. George can go under the radar when he wants to. Finally, George seems like a very protective guy, he's about to break Amal's arm and fingers in some photos! 🙂

It was in the 30’s last night not as cold as it has been here in New York. I think Amal doesn’t use a super strong hair spray so her hair bounces when she moves. It looks like George walks fast and she is trying to keep up in some pictures so that is when her hair is moving.

Nati, this is off topic, but I don’t where else to ask. Do you have any info about Amal’s wedding band? Who makes it? What size is it? There is a ton of stuff on her engagement ring, but I cannot locate anything on the wedding band which looks to be an eternity ring. It looks so delicate and elegant on her hand, I’m curious to know who made it. Also, any info on the nail polishes she uses? Her hands are just beautiful and always perfectly manicured. I read somewhere that one reason she wore the gloves to the Globes was to avoid questions about her manicure and rings. Interesting, if true. Thanks so much in advance. I agree….what is with the whipping hair? The colours she is wearing look great on her but that dress is far too young for her. The length does not bug me but the style does. Everything else works. This women cannot take a bad photo.

Anyway, I think this and the last prefall Giambattista Valli outfit puts to rest whether she gets clothing from the designers. These aren’t even available in stores yet so they had to be sent to her.

Well, to be fair, Salma is married to the owner of the parent company of the brand so she has access to all the samples. Most celebrities get sent things either directly or thru their stylist/publicist to wear and send back or keep as a gift.

I watched the video and can’t imagine going through that kind of circus for two blocks. Yes celebrities are famous blah blah, but we should have a little compassion for someone who is suddenly thrust into that world. After seeing this, I think Amal handles herself with extreme grace. With regard to all the comments on hair tossing etc. Remember that each of these photos represents a second in time.The poor woman gets caught in every head turn and blink of her eyes. She must really love her husband to put up with all this craziness every time she goes anywhere.

Guarantee that if they do not want to be seen, they won’t be. We don’t see pictures of them every day,,,just when they want us to. George’s job is to promote promote promote and sell the dream. Publicity helps her career, too. She could have used another door, left at a different time, etc. Celebs, Royals and others have all kinds of tricks to avoid the cameras.

Amal-hair-gate: if you watch the video, she tosses/flips/whooshes/whips her hair roughly 4 or more times from the moment they leave the restaurant backdoor. It’s not the wind, it’s not for lack of hairspray, and due to the constant auto-shooting of the cameras it’s living out it’s moment in full view.
I read this the other day about why there is such disdain/contempt for this women: “I think the fact that she managed to bag Clooney without being an obvious beauty has thrown people too – that a woman can be valued for qualities other than the superficial goes against conventional wisdom.” Whether she is attractive is a matter of opinion – she has the “it factor” to him whether people like it or not. Most likely, she’s confident. She believes in herself which in turn makes others find her attractive and it’s intoxicating to be around.
As for the hair, according to various behavioral science journals, a woman flipping/tossing her hair signals to males her suitability for mating given her health and vitality. Actually, she could be tossing her hair as a reaction of uneasiness, anxiousness and uncomfortability in these situations. She does it quite often.

As for the comments about her “loving the camera” – yes, kinda. It’s all an outgrowth of her confidence. Confident women, who believe they are beautiful, are just acknowledging what they believe themselves – that they are worthy of this attention and time. It would be lovely to live in a world where it reflects back what you believe to be true. It’s a catch-22 to be delusional is a gift – that keeps giving.

It is a consensual and symbiotic relationship between greed and exposure. Thou shalt be given free clothing, but on the condition though shalt be papped. Though shalt make millions from a movie, but though shalt be papped.
My dumb question is – if her makeup looks so caked on in photos, how thick is it in real life…

Amal Clooney is given a lot of clothing. It is the small price to pay to be photographed wearing them……
And we are all part of the game : photographers for magazines and newspapers, bloggers, readers……… Celebrities like GC and his beautiful wife feed us when they want to…….when they don ‘t want to be seen, they are not.
Nati, you should also be given clothing by these wonderful fashion designers. You do such a good job for them as well ! 🙂

They left the restaurant through a back door someone called the paps. They are a couple George may be a celebrity but he still likes doing normal things like walking to a nearby restaurant. Why should they hide . George is well aware that he has no privacy in public . She likes looking good and why not she is married to one of the worlds biggest stars. I would want to look good for my husband as well as do many women.

I think she likes to look good for herself, as do many women. For instance, when I dress up, I do it because I like the clothing, not because I want to impress anyone or because I want someone else to like me. There’s a lot of fun in dressing up, in and of itself, and she has access to really fun pieces. She just chooses the ones that she likes for whatever reason (maybe they suit her mood at that moment and she likes how they look on her). That’s probably the reason why Amal and George dress in such different styles when they go out – they each dress for themselves.

I agree, I love to dress up, too. And I don’t have paps taking my pic! You can be sure if I was well known like she is now, having my pic taken at every street corner…I’d be styling, also. It’s all new and fun for her right now. Probably won’t be as exciting 5 years from now…but she will continue to dress well. Many women, myself included, just feel good being put together. Women also dress for other women…not just their guys.
There is no doubt that these photo ops are all staged to some degree. Yes, it’s quite evident she is enjoying the attention and he is enjoying showing her off. But I would be enjoying it, too. This is the life she wanted or she wouldn’t have married him.
i really enjoy seeing how she puts together her clothes, she’s a lot of fun to watch. I do have to roll my eyes a little at all the hair tossing, though.

George definitely prefers to be under the radar. He has done it for years. Amal, on the other hand, appears to love it. She is a flashy dresser which simply makes the paps more aggressive. She is a very elegant woman but quite big on herself. No need to be dressed to the nines every time .

The video clearly shows that they used a back door. She can’t barely walk with all the flashes and her hair gets in her face, thus all the tossing. I can’t believe living like that. Just seeing this 2 minute video, I felt completely stressed out and I wasn’t even there! Thank you Nati for posting it.

I admire Amal for keeping her career despite being married to a movie star. She is accomplished. I also like some of her style but some of it is OTT and I think she has been dressing a bit for the press. That date outfit was not suitable for the weather but it was suitable for the paps. Her skirts can be too short. Yes she has good legs but some of her wedding outfits were a couple of inches on the wrong side of classy. She should leave that sort of stuff for the Khardashians. Plus she needs to be careful with the freebies. She has to protect her credibility as a barrister. My all time favourite style icon was Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. She could make jeans and a t-shirt look like haute couture. I wish Amal would just wear plain jeans and a t-shirt. Sometimes simple is best. Just saying.

This was a well-chosen shift dress for her figure. She is beyond thin and the lace cut outs create an illusion of an hourglass figure. Also this navy/purple color compliments her complexion. The length is situation-appropriate. She DEFINITELY has a stylist guiding her choices (bra showing or not). The selection of the navy dress and the teal/seafoam car coat is such a color complimented pairing – she never would have picked it out. It is not even up for discussion, she absolutely loves the limelight with photographers vying for her photo. I wonder if she reads the countless, horrid comments about her physical appearance, family connections and faux marriage.
