  1. Not a favorite outfit. I’m not sure how much she weighed before or at her wedding, but she looks too thin in this picture, I would guess 115 to 120 lbs. I am her height and weighed that in college…it really is too thin. Another 10 lbs would look sexier and healthier on her.

  2. I’m her height too, if not taller, but i have trouble gaining weight. Stress, work, and responsibilities make it harder for me to gain weight. I have a coworker who is overweight and she states that stress, work, and responsibilities make it hard for her to loss weight. what i’m trying to say is that each person’s body is different. no one’s DNA and genes sequences are the same. therefore, i don’t feel comfortable judging other people’s bodies. if one is happy and capable of moving and living his/her life, who are we to judge.

    1. I agree. Amal was always on the skinny side if you look at her old pictures but probably due to work and frequently flying back and forth and always on the run, caused her to lose a lot of weight. But shes not anorexic or bulimic.
And this is not intended to offend anyone but certain clothes, especially her fashion choices, fit and look well with her body type( as opposed to someone with curves like Kim Kardashian). Amal is geared more toward classy and sophisticated look while Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian fight over who can look voluptuous in their skintight fitting outfits.
Clothing on Amal compliment her and vice versa, she compliments the clothes. So I truly believe Amal is on the right track. Nati, I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to always keep us posted on Amal’s style…thank you again.

      1. I so agreed with what you are saying. I admired Amal’s fashions so darn much and they all look so fabulous on her, but I won’t dare to pull it off myself because I have a different body type from hers and those types of fashion that she adorned won’t look good on me

    2. Agreed. Everybody has their own tendency to either gain weight or lose weight when under stress. I know that if I was living the jam-packed schedule that she is, I’d be blimping out like crazy. I think, once her life calms down and she stops jetting back and forth between London and LA, then we might see her get back to her normal weight.

    1. I agree, George looks awful next to Amal. Would’ve loved to see her marry someone professional that was her equal – definitely not a Hollywood actor with a penchant for pretty young ladies – and would’ve loved to see her attend real charity events, not a Motion Picture & Television Fundraiser….

  3. I like this outfit on her. The pants are beautiful, and the top she paired them with make it look less formal. This is actually something I could wear (with strappy heels). I like the earrings with this outfit, at least from this distance.

  4. Beautiful pants, BUT… i am not sure if it was a good choice for for such an evening event …reminds me too much of a pajamas pants… i would wear that on day time. But, Amal has her own ways and seems to not care much for what anyone else thinks or if such or such outfit may not flatter her delicate figure. She is definitely like an very slim Audrey Hepburn body type. It seems to be her genetics. She was already like that on her civil wedding; one could see she was very slim inside that white&black outfit, and on her other casual street pictures. I dont think she is any more skinnier than before. Like it or not, it is who she is and she seems to be well resolved about that. Of course there are better choices to flatter the super-slims-and-less-bottom body types…but perhaps she is not focused in provoking sex appeal but just class and elegance? Who knows…

  5. I prefer the version on the second model picture Nati posted, with the long skirt instead of pants. The different floral colors on the skirt area makes it so unique!! That one would had looked much better on Amal, me think 😉 I am not crazy about floral pants in general. Great job on posting all these pictures Nati! You are the best! yYou always get the most and best pictures 😉

  6. Maybe the dark top is making her look thinner than usual. Lighting and angles can play tricks on the eye. She has always been on the very thin side, so I doubt if she any body issues. Now, George looks to be filling out and not feeling well at all. Again, it could just be the photo.

As for the outfit, she must like florals. They look good on her. I cannot imagine anyone heavier wearing those pants.

  7. I don’t like the black with the summery pants. perhaps she could have worn a lacy white top with those pants. the pants could have been a bit shorter to show strrappy white sandles.

    Like

    1. The lacy white top is an excellent suggestion. I think the pants would also have looked good (and equally as elegant) with a dark navy, yellow, or lavender top cut similarly and of the same type of material (knit?) as the black top. The black is a bit bold with the pants, but, then again, Giambattista Valli seems to have originally accented these pants with black (at the waist, in the photo above). Anyway, if she wore simple black strappy heels with the outfit, it would have pulled the whole thing together, and I think that the outfit suits the occasion quite well (black is a bit more formal, and perhaps more suitable for these kinds of events). With the other colors (white, navy, lavender, or yellow), she could pair the pants with a beige strappy heel, but the outfit definitely would then have been more summery.

  9. How does she have time for all the clothes shopping as she is SUCH a busy lawyer saving the world? Do $3000 pants fit with a manufactured human rights image???? I think not.

    Like

    1. I got to say this: please understand that she is just a human rights lawyer, she is not Mother Teresa. She chose Human Rights, as much as she could had chosen civil law, business law, etc…..That choice may make her a bit more of a sensible person, but certainly does NOT converts her into a world-savior, or that she would even ever work for free. You are confusing things big time! Lets not convert or wish that she was what she is not claiming to be. It is like expecting that a doctor be the most darling person in the world, because he or she chose to save lifes. But the fact is… a lot of doctors are on it for the MONEY! Try fainting in front od a private doctor in beverly Hills without any money or ways to pay the bill…or in most private practices… and you shall see the such good-hatred doctor may ignore you or send you a super heavy bill to have served you with salty-water. So please, lets stop this demand that she behaves like Indira Gandy or Mother Teresa. She is absolutely not that at all! She is just in the advocacy of human rights… but it could had been any other area of the law.. actually she also practices business law and extradition. Nothing to do with kind-heart self devoted to the world human being. She ma be a nice, sweet and kind person, but dont expect her to become a charity activist or do-gooder to save the less fortunate. Like her for what she is: a fashionista, intelligent, accomplished, educated, interesting, smart international lawyer who married a celebrity…and not for what she is not, otherwise you will be very deceived.

      1. well said! Amal specializes in human rights law and that doesn’t make her a humanitarian. she never portrayed a Mother Theresa image or proclaimed or hinted that she’s a humanitarian, or even accepted a humanitarian award. her husband has used his fame and power to do good things in life, but even he is not a humanitarian. in fact, there’s no current or former celebrity who is a real humanitarian, regardless of what they try to tell or show the public. a real humanitarian is a person who gives much more than he gets and a person who devote his life to helping others and does that without having People Magazine or even New York Times write an article about it.

    2. Somehow folks seem to think that being a hard-working professional and having an interest in fashion and wanting to look nice are mutually exclusive. I am an interventional cardiologist. I have to spend many hours in a clinic or at a hospital and could never have the type of life she has and maintain a practice. The practice of law is quite different. You need time and a law library to prepare a case. I am sure that the resources she needs are available on-line. There may be months between court-mandated appearances. I am not sure what a “human rights image” is? If she likes fashion, she should be able to choose what she wears. Personally, I don’t do well with wearing animals that have likely been mistreated prior to their “harvest.” However, this is a personal decision. She is talented, beautiful, intelligent and driven to do well. These are traits for which she (or any woman) should be appreciated, not depricated.

      1. All well said, Leigh Ann. Being a professional that she is (who only has to be in court every few weeks/ months and obviously has colleagues that can cover for her for those things too if needed), Amal is certainly allowed to go out & attend charity events for her husband’s work… AND wear whatever the hell she wants. (Although I don’t like animal skin either) A human- rights lawyer is no less allowed to have a fashion sense than an actress or model. None of us know how she really is or really acts. All we see are images (usually images from paparazzi). If she’s “the one” committment- phobe George gave a ring to, that says a lot about how great she must be! (In my opinion anyway). 🙂

      2. Totally agree. Gone are the days when women were supposed to wear some sort of uniform to work – one usually modelled on mens’ suits. Women have a wide variety of choices now. It is a sign of how far they have come in the work place. Amal can wear whatever she likes.

    3. I’m sure she uses the same services that every other high-powered, high-earning female professional uses to make sure she has a fully stocked closet. You’re right, it is highly unlikely that she has the time to go shopping herself.

And as far as $3000 pants fitting a “manufactured human rights image”, I didn’t realize that being a human rights lawyer required her to wear sackcloth.

  10. I think this is probably a more casual comfy A-lister party; note Spielberg has jeans on.
Amal looks like she is comfortable in this outfit. She’s mixing ‘old with new’: classic black with the new spring look of flowers which I am seeing EVERYWHERE — floral pants, floral dresses, floral tops, floral hoodies, floral athletic apparel, and the list goes on. This look is at all the stores! It’s very On trend. Her dark hair looks great with the pop of yellow in the pants and I think she wanted the pant to dominate by wearing the basic classic black. Good call, Amal. Her make up looks subdued and fitting for the occasion. 🙂 George, well….George is just being George. No comment on his outfit. 🙂

But in any case she is not paying the big boxes for that… and even if she did… so what? It is in her conscience not yours so dont let that take on you 🙂 Rich people spend a lot of money on themselves, that is what it means to be rich! 14. Black tops are very nice with floral skirts or pants. I wear them like that, but my florals tend to have less white, larger florals and some black. I used to pick out one of the colors and wear that on the top, but it just seemed too loud or something…never really liked it. Then I saw in the magazine Instyle this look and the black looked more sophisticated and made the colors pop. I think I would have liked it better if the top didn’t look like a T-shirt. Perhaps a nicer tank perhaps.

  15. I doubt she gets or takes anything for free George probably wouldn’t want that. I can see boutiques sending her styles and her keeping and paying for what she wants. George doesn’t take the free event gifts. Plus the nastiness she would receive for taking free clothing would just be horrendous one more thing to criticize her for.

      1. I think it’s the Versace coat. what i don’t get is if designers are gifting celebrities clothes for marketing reasons, then why are they giving them the same gifts. it doesn’t benefit the celebrities if everyone was photographed wearing the same outfit. i don’t get why celebrities, especially A list millionaires, accept those free clothes and why do they rush to sit front row at fashion shows. there must be a compelling reason behind it. is it money? do celebrities get a portion of the revenue generated from a certain piece they wore/promoted?

      2. It makes sense that designers would send her clothes for free. She’s the hottest thing going in our celebrity culture right now and the amount of publicity a designer would receive would be worth the price of giving away a few items. Unlike either the Duchess of Cambridge or Michelle Obama, she’s not constrained by rules and laws as to what she can accept.

Aw, why do you feel oblidged to defend her eveytime someone expresses an opinion?
It is obvious that most designers are giving clothes as presents, some even mentioning it on their social network profiles, yet everytime someone notices something about Amal that may not be to a perfection, you go off with finding her excuses.
If you are a member of her family and you re doing this, I hope you guys will realize that it is so obvious and ridiculous, that it’ s driving people away from appreciating her.
If instead this is purely your initiative as a spectator, you would do better to let her alone, she s capable of defending herself and her way of living, as defending is her job.

    1. Spot on PP. Amal is very vain (which admittedly is why we are all here checking out what she wears, how she styles her hair, who did her makeup, where did she buy her clothes from etc) but attempts to repeatedly defend her wardrobe extravagances and choices does drive people away from appreciating her and makes her defenders look silly. I do like one comment made earlier – human rights lawyer is merely her occupation, herself is her preoccupation. And it makes for nice pictures and blogs like this. Defending her extravagances (bce that’s what they are), is out of place, given, as you note PP, that she is capable of defending herself through the image she projects – and right now, it’s one of “I like make up, cosmetic enhancement, being skinny and expensive clothes”. It is what it is. Nothing to defend. She is not a moral crusader, humanitarian, or a world changer, nor is she humble or modest or passionate like human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson. Amal is beautiful, tall and extraordinarily wealthy and is defined by these features – she is very well aware of the image she projects – she has no wish to modify her image into that of the consumate professional, bce that is not who she is. Nothing to defend again. She is what she is. A lawyer, married to George Clooney, who of course, by definition of her lifestyle choices, is vain. He chose her bce she looks good, dresses well and acts smart, not bce she is altruistic or modest. The real Jennifer Robinsons of the world do not marry the George Clooneys of the world 😉 it takes a particular type of woman to fall for a George Clooney.

      1. Well JK, we don’t know her well to say that she is not altruistic or not passionate. She likes fashion and does have an expensive taste, however, she does seem like a lovely person. In fact, till this day, everyone who described her used the word “lovely” in their description. Also, all other lawyers that know her praised her for her passion about her work. I think for a person to be where Amal is, they must be passionate about their work. Also I read that when she was a student, she was known for her passion to human rights causes and therefore her classmates gave her a nickname that reflect that. I think Amal loves her job, but she keeps it real by not shoving the Mother Theresa image in our faces. This is exactly what I like about her and what I found refreshing. Look at those famous women in the political field that try to convince us that they are like us, and you will know what I mean.

      2. I’m not sure it’s fair to say that Amal is not passionate about her work, and she may not be a moral crusader, but she is a human rights lawyer, not a defender of dictators or corporate bad behavior. And though I’m not a big fan of George Clooney and his shallow playboy image, he has used his celebrity to call attention to atrocities like Darfur — a couple of days ago he had an op-ed piece in the New York Times about how the horror there continues. But I do find their jet set lifestyle and expensive tastes offensive, even vulgar. It is possible to be fashionable without being greedy. Instead of constantly parading around in outfits that could support entire families in many parts of the world for a year, I personally would prefer to see Amal promote fashion that is sustainably produced and offers workers a decent wage instead of a lifetime of toil in sweatshops — that would be more appropriate for a human rights lawyer. Nobody expects Amal to be Mother Teresa, but her image could be a lot less Marie Antoinette. I think it is this disconnect between her professional and private image that some of us find hard to swallow.

Thanks, JK, for making me more aware of Jennifer Robinson, who I didn’t know much about. Very impressive!

      1. Fair enough Vero. I hope I’m proven wrong in time but I wonder if George’s PR team is in overdrive with what they want us to know…especially if they’re considering a US Presidency down the track!!

What was most interesting is the Canadian government’s view of Amal as a liability in the Canadian journalist’s detainment in Egypt. The Australian journalist was released under more discrete arrangements (notice no one ever mentioned Peter Greste’s solicitor’s names, nor did we hear of them writing inflammatory letters which they posted on their firm’s websites like Amal repeatedly does…. Greste’s legal team must’ve been BRILLIANT to get him out so efficiently once the laws in Egypt were changed and not one has drawn attention to themselves)…. Anyway, it’s been mentioned before that her glamorous persona may not be appreciated by the ‘real’ world at large and may become a hindrance in cases that require discretion rather than Hollywood glitz and glamour… The jury is still out for me Vero 😉 I want to admire Amal, but she’s just no Gillian Triggs yet. Time will tell.

      2. unfortunately the journalists’ release doesn’t lay in the hands of their lawyers, it lays in the hand of the Egyptian, Australian,Canadian, and Qatari governments. Peter Greste wasn’t released because he has brilliant lawyers, he was released because a new law proposed by the new Egyptian President was recently passed and because Greste is 100% Australian with no Egyptian or Arabic ties (the accusations of him having ties with the Muslim Brotherhood were therefore extra-laughable). However, Fahmy is Egyptian-Canadian, so he was told to give up his Egyptian citizenship for him to be sent to Canada under the same decree that enabled Greste to be sent home. However, the Egyptians broke their promise that they made to the Canadian authorities. In response, Canada wrote a letter full of what Amal described as “sheepish whimpers”. this is why Amal and her client are mad. the team of lawyers for these 3 journalists couldn’t do anything for more than a year since the Egyptian rulings and trails in this case were a pure definition of a farce, forcing some to quit and enabling Amal to be hired. So now they are pressuring related governments to rescue who can be rescued and the poor Baher will need a miracle to be freed since he is an Egyptian citizen only.

P.S. all lawyers write letter about their cases and post them on their law firms’ website and publish them in newspapers too. However, the general news outlets, rags, and tabloids do not write about them because not all lawyers are married to George Clooney.

    1. Hi Clara, not sure Amal would agree with you that Fahmy’s release doesn’t lie in her hands….from her recent Huffington Post article….”I now plan to visit Egypt to meet with my client and discuss the status of the case with Canadian and Egyptian officials…. I hope that such a visit can lead to a swift and complete resolution of this case”…. She certainly seems to think it is up to her!! Is this an overinflated view of oneself…..I don’t know….. And this is what I mean – why is she using her new celebrity status to potentially undermine her client’s case?? It doesn’t make sense to agitate this further and get the Canadian govt offside also – aren’t they meant to be on the same team?! You mention all lawyers post their case letters on their firm’s websites – please do find me one such similar article written by Greste’s lawyers, where they update the public on their visa status on their website – I do want to be wrong about Amal. I do want to think she has a superior intellect, not a superiority complex…. The mixed vibes she gives off are too complex for me to make sense of! 😉 and I wonder whether this piece she has just written just makes her look silly/naive/impetuous/belligerent/narcissistic to the Egyptians and Canadians…I can almost imagine her stamping her dainty $3000 footwear on the ground!! 😉 😉

      1. my point JK was that in countries like Egypt, a politician can literally call a judge and tell him what to rule for a specific case. the judicial system is not independent. in situations like this, lawyers cannot depend on law to defend a case, they have to wait for a political solution. if the law was followed in the first place, the three journalists wouldn’t have been arrested and imprisoned because there wasn’t even one evidence against them. As for Greste, again he was released immediately after a certain decree was passed in Egypt and he was lucky to not have an Egyptian nationality. so his Egyptian lawyer was able to immediately send him back to Australia. I can’t read Arabic very well, so I can’t search for letters this lawyer wrote and i’m also quite lazy to do so. but i’m sure he did his best to make sure his client’s voice is heard. As for Fahmy, i’m actually shocked by how unassertive Canada appears to be. If a third world country like Egypt promised such a developed country like Canada something and they broke their promise, I expect the developed country to have a stronger response. Someone has to stamp his foot on the ground and end this mess, and if it’s Amal with her $3000000 nice shoes, then i’m all for it. 😉 thank you JK for your response and I enjoyed responding back to you! 🙂

  17. Just being cheeky now – I love that new photo posted above of Amal and George talking to the bearded man (Nati, how on earth do you get these!??) – both A and G look surprised at what he’s saying, only George’s forehead shows it, whilst Amal’s forehead doesn’t move, not even one tiny baby crease! Even her eyebrows don’t raise up – if it wasn’t for the open mouth and hand going to cover it in her surprise, she’d look like the stony mannequin appearance she displayed on her wedding day…
It is this disconnect that unsettles me. I had such hope when she chose to enter the celebrity scene that she would shine as a beacon for all that is truthful and good and honest – I don’t want her to be shallow and vain and void of the awareness that her appearance speaks the truth of her character, as it does for all of us… ! I want her to be brilliant, above Hollywoid superficialities and true to who she was before an actor ‘discovered’ her…. It’s so hard to keep looking up to her when everything I’m seeing just isn’t adding up. If only she didn’t wear animals, if only she didn’t publish her case letters, if only those eyebrows and her forehead moved…..I would like her so much more……sigh….!! 😉

You see, this “let’s advocate for the downtrodden and common man” image versus the cosmetic alteration of one’s appearance, the acceptance of her role as a clothes horse (mule??) that is available to the top 0.001% of the world’s population…..it just doesn’t sit right with me….

Anyone can read a book, pass an exam, edit a book and write fancy words…it happens every moment……but to LIVE your life once you are in the spotlight and use your appearance and intellect in a modest, unfiltered manner, now that is true beauty.

I’m still going to hero worship Jennifer Robinson – she’s stunning, wears tasteful clothes, is much younger but a more senior and accomplished human rights lawyer than Amal….. not that Amal cares for my opinion, but I’m sorry, Amal is being left behind very quickly. I’m boxing Amal in with the Hillary Clinton types. What a let down.

    1. Hey “JK”, this one is for YOU! Get ready because i am going to be harsh on you and i can tell by reading your comment that you can take it, since you are so harsh and judgmental on someone you and the world barely know. First, you are having visions, and those visions must be coming from your inner self and not from pictures of Amal, because i am not seeing what you are seeing and most people coming to this blog are not seeing what you are seeing. Before you call Amal “horse” or “mule” …geee how dare you? …lets us see your face and see what you look like. I bet you don’t look like a horse or a mule do you? Even less you would appreciate that someone, who knows NOTHING about you, called you that. If it was a point you wished to make, i think you failed it. Instead, what comes across from your words is just simple self resentment which you seem eager to vent out.

You are right about the fact that almost anyone can read a book, but it does not mean they can understand it. Amal may be just a cover of a book for you, or for anyone so far, but you are assuming you have read its entire content. No you haven’t. Neither did I or anyone that does not knows her well. According to you, many can pass an exam, ok, but only the most elevated can pass the test of abstaining themselves from being so judgmental and unforgiving over others under no proven grounds. Here you come, with your mind made up about what she is and what not. It seems to me that you are not being the least fair to her, because you don’t know the bleep what is in her mind and heart. On your single-sided judgement, you are not making use of the hundred of pictures of Amal smiling big and making faces, being silly with George and friends and acting simple and natural. It is absurd the certainty that you try to convey in your words as if they are the truth. They are not JK, sorry,.. i think you have a very distorted image of this whole Amal thing and i suggest you to stop looking at Amal’s pictures and reading anything about her, because you may grow even more disappointed. What you are making out of her may never be what she is. Not because she is as deceiving and a “let down” as you wish her to be and impose upon her, but because she may just be herself and is well entitled to be so. Again, Amal is not advocating for the poor and underdogs of the world. In the contrary, she has been representing very powerful and high end clients. She has just very recently married George and have been only months in the spot light, and you are resuming her ENTIRE life already as a “let down”?? WOW YOU!!

You also seem to be very uncomfortable over she wearing expensive stuff (and mostly, because she is a human rights lawyer), when your intelligence and common sense should tell you that most of these stuff is being sent to her for free. But even if she did buy them, what is your problem with that? Most rich people in the world have super high self esteem and that is why they are rich, because they think of themselves as super valuable, so they dress according to how they feel. Do you and I have the money to dress like that? Most unlikely. But the question i have for you “JK” is: if the entire world were super rich and did not need your money and you were filthy rich, would you buy yourself a super expensive outfit and wear it like Amal does??? I have a feeling that you would NOT. Why?? I dare to say that your self esteem would not allow it because you may think you don’t deserve it. Note that i know nothing about you, i am just judging you by your harsh words and judgement that seems to not have solid basis. See how that goes? I also know nothing about Amal, and i am not defending her, i am actually defending myself under her umbrella; defending my right to be free as a confident woman, to be myself and not ever be expected to please the entire world.

I doubt that Amal is deliberately plotting a false world around her image. YOU seems to be creating a false world around her persona based only on speculations and your own inner projections. I think your comment has an agenda to just bash her with accusations that makes no sense. I think the fact that she posted her letters for this case is very smart and strategical while dealing with unreasonable government leaders. The fact that she is wearing nice attires values her presence in cases more than you think. If she appeared to the world as George Clooney’s bride wearing rags, i bet there would be even more low level people trying to destroy her. She is NOT the new world’s savior on the block -> she wears animal skin -> she makes loads of money and spends it lavishly -> she may come across as better off than most of us…ok…ok… that may all be proved by just looking at her if you want…but…also, by just looking at her – and if one chooses to be fair – it is also proved that she appears to have a super friendly personality, down to earth, smiley and playful, loads of classy attitude, and she has docile eyes and genuine smiles, which she seems to be more than willing to spread around where ever she goes, with or without frowning her forehead… if that is what you think makes a person to be a hero. You just have to look at such pictures of her. I have.
But mostly, you may just want to be a less judge-MENTAL spectator and allow time and Amal herself, to prove what she truly is. In other words…be fair “JK”…be truly fair.

      1. ONYOURFACE…. chillax…. It’s obvious English is your second language. Here is the definition of Fashion Horse/Mule:

        fashion horse
A man who only wears the latest fashions, in order to place himself ahead of the competition.
        Synonym: Fashion Slave

I am not likening her to an animal – that was where YOUR mind went, not mine. “Fashion horse” is merely an expression referring to people who are slaves to fashion. And by “slaves”, I do not mean… ah, forget it, look up metaphors, similes, personification etc ….. I don’t have the time for an English literature lesson…

As to her “silly faces” in pre-marriage photos, I agree, in her pre-wedding photos, her face did move quite beautifully, naturally and gorgeously – she was animated and alive and real – it was why I held so much hope for an intelligent educated woman entering the Hollywood foray (chill again….. look up “foray” before you have a coronary about my likening Hollywood to enemy territory….sigh…) …

Again, why defend her choices in such a manner…? It’s perplexing. In my very short experience on this planet, the people that are most reactive and agitated by others’ opinions are usually those that have the most to hide/defend when the opinions come close to the truth or come close to what you may have already been thinking but not voicing..…

As for drawing conclusions from photographs taken of Amal….you might have heard the old adage (yes, look up that word, I know you want to), “a picture is worth a thousand words”…. That saying classically captures the notion that a single, still image can often convey a very complex and laden idea… What the pictures of Amal tell me is that she is preoccupied with her appearance and fashion choices and she has changed from the person she was pre-George… the effects she creates visually allow me to draw such inferences… much like what you did above with my words (now that’s scary for you, you might just be like me, drawing INFERENCES (look under “I” in the dictionary…).

As Clara writes below, research indicates insecurity leads to cosmetic enhancement in women… I just thought/hoped/wished Amal was better than that. I thought she was grounded, authentic and inspirational for the celebrity scene. I thought she transcended the superficial and superfluous by virtue of her occupation. I drew that OPINION based on the IMAGE she portrayed of herself…. But, VISUALLY, she has turned out to be no better than the rest of them… overexercising, weight loss, accepting free clothing, wearing animals, botox, hair extensions – all VISUAL indicators of wasteful and gluttonous consumption and expenditure… you name it, she’s doing it….Kim K in lawyer’s clothing…

Leave me be with my grief and disappointment… I was permitted the opportunity to idolise her (you can carry on with that) and I am now permitted the right to be disenchanted…yes, I know it’s a big 4 syllable word…..aaaahhh… just look it up….

I won’t be bothering you fair folk with my musings any more. I’m clearly not part of the Middle-Eastern, Middle-Aged, Middle-Class, Middle-Intelligence brigade as per ONYOURFACE…. Thank you for the ride Nati.

        Best,
        JK

(No, ONYOURFACE, don’t hyperventilate, that does not mean I am the BEST…… it’s short-hand for best wishes….)

      2. I’m sending the flowers to you! it’s really nice and fulfilling to read reasonable arguments from time to time. Sometimes I get disappointed from the things I read online, whether it’s comments from the public or articles written by “journalists.” However, from time to time, I stumble upon decent-minded people like you and I can’t say how assured and happy it makes me reading their thoughts. i think negative people should be talked to and helped. the world has more than enough hate in it, we shouldn’t let this negativity reach nice blogs like this one.

      3. “JK” Dear child “JK”.. dont worry i have already checked,…. “JK” stands for “JOKER”…the smiling clown who smiles cynically, while secretly plotting to deceive his crowd. In your extremely self-centered, arrogant, self-righteous, clairvoyant and power-fuzed, Christal ball YOUniverse…your forget to remind your SELF that your opinion is as true as your SELF-LOVE is. (Look it up! )…After i wrote my essay to you i realized i had already wasted my precious time on you before…because everyone of your comments is nothing but self-hate. I doubt that you could ever idolize anyone…no..you do not have such ability because, to do that, one has to first learn what love is…self love. And what comes from you – remind yourself that you are making Amal’s negative portrait, out of her images only – but you…it is easier.. you are using a powerful revelation tool: the verb…the words.. in your capable writing hands, you keep typing and typing them, profusely and generously…to basically say nothing of positive, of relevant, of kind, of assertive. All that you seems to have to vent out is self-hate.

So dear child, as you have called yourself, you still have a lot to live and learn on this planet…so i resume my time wasting on you by making a wish for you: that you start to get up each day looking up at the sun and seeing how it is shining for YOU TOO! No…nobody is abandoning you anymore…it is all in the past.. you just need to believe it and stop abandoning yourself this way. May you find love in the smallest gestures that you make with your forehead, and that it may transcend inner beauty until it reaches your throat so you can vocalized beautiful words of positivity…until it echoes deep down into your heart.. and allow it to succumb into a compassionate one.

Bare in mind that i could also write this text in four other languages (yep…i can do that, no only in English)… to help you understand it a little better…however… i have a feeling that your fire does not need any extra fuel…it is burning down already…because no mater how much you prefer to hate… the world is full of LOVERS and we are bigger in numbers…and still growing. CHECK IT OUT!!

  18. I was waiting for the next thing critics will say about Amal, and here it is: plastic surgery! In the photo above, how can someone compare Amal’s face to George’s face. Amal is 37 and George is in his 50’s, so naturally George will have much more wrinkles on his face. Even with all the wrinkles George has, he still isn’t spared from plastic surgery rumors!!!! Also how can someone tell if Amal’s face is frozen when her hair is covering 3/4 of her face. Moreover, Amal seems less shocked than George and therefore is expected to have a lesser expression. In fact, George tend to overreact and his face is quite expressive. I can tell that the blond woman in the first and second photos played with her face due to the puffiness and the shiny quality to it. However, Amal’s face is neither puffy nor shiny, instead it’s extremely thin. Finally, I still feel horrible judging the people who felt the need to alter their faces and bodies. Some people are just insecure. In fact, all people have insecurities that they struggle with and that’s OK because we are human beings. The best thing a person can do is to spread positivity and support one another.

      1. Dear ONYOURFACE,

I feel the inexplicable need to defend myself against your well intentioned torrent of positive affirmations.

Firstly, and sadly, this isn’t a competition between how many languages you know (you win), it’s about opining and expressing your ideas in a coherent and logical manner (I win) and arriving at sensible and reasonable conclusions (I win again).

I am grateful for your observations of my inner self. I always value input from couch psychotherapists that learn from Oprah. I would agree with you that I suffer from low self-esteem and poor self-worth…. if I felt the need to alter my external appearance through Botox, hiring elite make-up artists, hair extensions, weekly manicures, breast enlargement, tanning, 2 hours of daily exercise, restricting my oral intake, and mustn’t forget, wearing the latest fashions… Sadly, I do not have any such inclinations, and I find it amusing, that my observations of Amal and her behaviours (outlined in said sentence above), make me the insecure one. But, that is logic for you…not freely available to us all.

So, let’s do the psychobabble talk then… What we have here is a good Lebanese girl with perfectionistic and type A tendencies. She is a high achiever, from high achieving, wealthy and privileged parents, who have set very high standards for their intelligent and beautiful daughter, who has, in her duty bound capacity to such parents, internalised their values and defined her self-worth through external accolades and achievements that of course, are only as valuable as long as they are recognised by others (a bit like expensive artwork one would say). She was unable to find a husband across 3 continents, despite her appearance and talents, because in her wisdom at 36 years, she was still seeking “Mr Perfect”. As he never came along, she had to settle for “Mr Right”, who she found in an older male serial monogamist, who is a caricature of the Hollywood scene. (I know, I know, such observations make me terribly insecure and point to the fact that as a child, I wasn’t validated and hugged enough by my mother. Terrible and traumatising childhood, please hug me, or send me some more “hope the sun shines on your day” stuff…).

Now ONYOURFACE, I could do this all day, because you provide much humour for my Lebanese friends and I, and being a child, I do like to play and irk adults. (My mother and aunties also thought what you wrote was funny by the way, so your words were not completely of no value…)

BTW, I wish I had thought of JK as standing in for JOKER (wow, you are impressive – how many teenagers did you ask??), but sadly, again, my self esteem, being so low, does not permit me to go under pseudonyms.

        Yours,
        Jabala Khoury

P.S. (…I’ll help you with this one, it means Post Script) – as for your comments to PP, does it scare you that there may be more than one person in the world who looks at G & A and does not appreciate the incoherent image projection and inconsistent PR stunts? Would your head explode if I told you that Nati could probably confirm from her stats, that PP and I are most likely situated in different parts of the world… as delusional as you might think I am, I am sane enough to be aware I cannot yet manage time travel.

And PP, I had my coffee this morning and thought of you 🙂 Sorry you had to get dragged into this by an old Lebanese lady who speaks four languages. These types of ladies (they are infiltrating this blog) are a trademark of my culture – these types live rich, privileged, dissatisfied lives, married to neglectful husbands, and get a high out of dishing out clichéd positive affirmations to us lesser mortals.

Let’s go ONYOURFACE, Round 3 coming up!
