Amal was spotted with George Clooney on Wednesday afternoon, when the two were seen exiting a car and heading into a nearby building in Santa Monica. Amal smiled as she stepped out in a beautiful floral dress, which she effortlessly paired with a brown leather bag and jacket.

It’s just amazing to me how much these dresses can cost. Although it’s cute, it makes me choke to think that is over $3K. Looks like a $200 summer dress from Macy’s. I don’t care for her boots with the dress. This is the first thing I’ve seen her wear that I’m not in love with. Not sure what she’s trying to pull off with the suede boots and summer dress…just didn’t work.

AW, You are right. Lawyer don’t need anymore to be in the office,they can do their work anywhere they are with a PC( with internet connection) lol and a phone. obviously she is married now to George and they want to be together much more possible and there is nothing wrong with that.

I think the booties make a lot more sense when you consider the jacket is part of the outfit. Both give an edge to a dress that could otherwise seem too girly and sweet. By the way, I think she looks so much more attractive with less makeup! Now if she could only show that it’s possible to be stylish without spending $5,000 or more on an outfit.

I like her better without so much makeup, too. She looks more fresh and young. Her hair is adorable here and a welcome change from her usual hair style. Personally, I feel that the short dress made with such lightweight fabric isn’t appropriate for winter, even in LA, and the jacket and shoes don’t really pair well with it. Maybe she could wear something longer or made with more substantial material (like wool, which can also be made into heavier- or lighter-weight fabrics). This is a spring/summer dress paired with winter/fall booties and a jacket. Why not enjoy winter fashion while it’s winter? I love dressing for the seasons.

I agree that some of her looks are more successful than others. But I find her interesting because she often adds something unexpected, like the booties with the delicate floral dress and the white gloves at the Globes — and slouchy gloves at that, making them less pretentious than they could have been. This is her fashion genius, I think — hardly anyone talked about any other look at the awards ceremony, right? (By the way, I also think she had to have been thinking of that photo of Jackie Kennedy in the same one-shouldered black dress with the white gloves that was in the awards post when she was planning what to wear.)
I do wish she didn’t buy into the ostentatious haute couture mentality. That may be okay occasionally, for a big event like the Golden Globes, but to wear a $3,000-plus dress for a trip to the doctor? I think she definitely has flair, and does admirable work as a human rights lawyer, but the sometimes vulgar display of wealth and luxury (in my opinion) is not one of her most attractive traits.

There is a big upgrade from the $200 Ted Baker dress that she used to wear and the over $3000 Giambatista Vali or over $7000 D&G that she wears now! I like the dress and I understand why she wore it with those booties and the leather jacket, she wanted to dress down the over 3K dress and make it look cool. However, she could wear those booties with a pair of jeans or a trouser and the leather jacket to go to the medical visit and still look good and elegant. I think she knows that she is a fashion icon now and wants to keep up with the image and she’s trying hard! But she is an intelligent, smart and professional woman and does not need to show off!

Amal is a lawyer not a style icon, people who are interested in her fashion can simply buy copies. She is not trying to lead fashion and show people what to wear. I think if she likes the more expensive clothing she should wear and enjoy them. If she were not married to George no one would know how much her clothes cost. If Amal Clooney isn’t a style icon, then why are we all reading this blog? And even if she didn’t intend to be a style icon, the fact is that since her engagement to George Clooney, she has become one. And now everything she wears conveys an image and a message — as an extremely intelligent woman, she must know that. Whether she should or shouldn’t just live her life and enjoy wearing all the expensive clothes she wants is debatable, but given that she is a human rights lawyer and for the price of one of her dresses she could feed a family for weeks or months, it seems inappropriate, maybe even a bit hypocritical.

Would it not be great to set a wonderful example for mankind by shopping off the rack and sending the money save to wonderful organizations like PETA who fight to end the unbearable suffering of dogs skinned alive in China to make “leather” for gloves, jacket trims, and cat toys??
Google PETA and watch the undercover videos of the truth. She could do so much good for the suffering in this world.

She does her job and gets paid how she spends her money is on her. George gives and does a lot for charity . None of us know what Amal gives and does it is he private business. I like her style and love a lot of what she wears I don’t care how much it costs. I have my own style and I know I can’t afford the things she can it doesn’t bother me at all. I think we should all do what we can when it comes to charity. I don’t believe the rich are supposed to solve the world’s problems people should live and enjoy what they have any way they choose.

You’re right to point out that the dress isn’t age-appropriate for her. My first thought when I glimpsed these photos was that she looks like a distracted daughter accompanying her father to the hospital. Perhaps she’s attempting to make the outfit look more mature by pairing the dress with unconventional things, but it doesn’t really work very well – it just looks mismatched.
If the dress was longer – say knee or midi length and cut on the bias – it would make a very romantic and elegant summer day dress for a woman her age. I love the print and material. It made me think of some of the silk chiffon dresses that Beulah London was selling a few seasons ago, but those dresses were knee-length and more elegant.

I agree. It’s a bit too girly for her age. I think she was just trying to give it some edge with the rest of the ensemble…but it just didn’t work. I think we’ve all had those moments. I like her hair, but she needs to be careful. Again…braids and bows for women over 30 don’t look quite as good, starts to look like you are trying too hard. She can maybe pull it off now, but not for much longer. I’d leave that look for the beach.

I bet she quits her job in one year. She will likely become an ambassador of something like Angelina Jolie. That way she can travel with George and the new kid. Her style will become more youthful which is too bad because her original style was much for authentic and age appropriate.

Personally, I like this mix n match look she has going on. It’s “bohemian” to me, something you would see in Free People. I really like it on her, I think. 🙂 Perhaps she’s just experimenting with looks and all styles. Nonetheless, it’s cute, fun, comfortable, with a twist of the brown “Moto” leather jacket & suede booties and brown bag. It’s very Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie looking. Mostly Free People, though. I think Amal is very much the type who likes to “fit the occasion”. I surmise this as I reflect on her wardrobe choices. For example, while in NYC she was colorful with the colorful shoes, black “fringe” jacket, and speckled pants. In Cabo San Lucas, she’s in a bright yellow sun dress. In LA we now see her in this floral, boho dress with booties/almost a bit western & Americana look. I think she enjoys “fitting in” and suiting the occasion, which is certainly fine. She might feel a bit pressure to “meet” this expectation. Keep in mind…she has now gone from “commoner” to sort of a celebrity status due to marrying George. She might feel she has to “deliver” knowing she will now always be photographed. 🙂

Keep in mind…some of you who are in shock about spending “$3,000 to run errands”. It’s all in what you can afford. For example, I am a school teacher, aka. ‘poor’. So my entire outfit to run errands in might be $100.00 to $150. Total! Amal is a millionaire plus (+). Therefore, her “$3,000” meets my $150.00. She’s shopping Saks Fifth Avenue and I’m shopping Gap sales and J. Crew sales. So again, it’s all in what one can afford. It’s truly irrelevant when you give it some thought. Amal’s business all the way. Plus as someone else mentioned…..it could be free. Designers might be presenting her with FREE clothes to help promote their line. They do that for day time talk show host, Kelly Ripa. It totally makes sense. OR….maybe Amal picks out what she wants and George gets the nice tab sent to him. Nonetheless, I really like her style! 🙂
